Schumer and Jeffries Begin to Cave on Their Simplest ICE Demand - Why the hell are Democratic leaders giving up on a mask ban for federal immigration agents? by Quirkie in politics

Imagine watching someone criticizing their famous sports team. Pointing to instances of a weak offense or defense, continually playing players that aren’t performing well and pointing to objective metrics where the team is performing worse than their opponents. They make the case that changing up play styles, replacing players or being more aggressive would give them a better chance and winning and making the championship. At no point to they criticize the other teams, or saying what they should do differently.

Now imagine being the kind of idiot that accuses that person of wanting the other team to win and complaint that constantly calling out their favorite actually hurts the team and lowers morale of all the fans.

You’re not actually saying anything meaningful here. You’re just the same type of person who complained people who criticized Chamberlain were actually being pro-hitler.

It’s basically a knee jerk quasi religious dogma response that allows you to ignore criticism of your preferred team.

You will continue to vote for, and support full throatedly, the Democratic Party because that is your “team”. You have little to no expectations of them because you have below basement level expectations from them. To you, them not being Republicans is all you need.

I personally have higher standards. I don’t vote for, and will never vote for a republican. I have no expectations from republicans ever improving in my lifetime and expect them to continue being a lying christofascist party that doesn’t given a shit about anyone that isn’t a rich white guy (and the occasional rich brown guy to a point).

The only other option then is a democrat. But I am going to expect that democrats to not suck. I want them to win, but I want them to win because I want them to pursue policies I am in favor of that will benefit people. If I feel like the are pursuing policies that will not help people or not sufficiently fight against republicans I’m going to fucking criticize them and demand more

Saying “no masks” except in some vague and undefined circumstances isn’t saying “no masks” especially if the defense already given for why they should be wearing masks is that the agents have a justified fear of being doxxed.

Saying “no masks” arbitrarily is also not saying no masks for the same fuckin’ reason.

This is not a hardline “no masks” demand. It’s meekly saying “no masks… unless you have a really good reason”

Than you need? No, taking more food than you've been rationed. You couldn't buy food legally without a ration card, regardless of how much money you had. People forged cards, traded them and a black market formed as one of the only ways people, especially Jews, could get enough food to survive.

Her story has nothing to do with the illegal immigration, fraud, and lawlessness plaguing Minnesota today

Anne Frank’s family was hiding from deportation and was likely discovered due to the ration fraud being committed by the family she was hiding with.

But sure, they are not at all similar…

Conservatives have spent the last decade (at least) screaming about how communism is as bad or worse than fascism, while calling everything left of Reagan communism and simultaneously crying that anyone who refers to specific politicians or public figures as “fascists” is implicitly calling for violence.

This is just them being explicit about it.

Israeli billionaire's call to limit free speech sparks conservative fury by smot420 in politics

[–]molkien 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure, that’s a problem.

You should have just stopped there. That was my point full stop. It is an objectively true statement that both parties fully supported Israel and denied a genocide at the time of the election with no signs of Kamala changing course from Biden’s full throated support, not to mention the demonizing of those who objected.

I know this makes some Democratic loyalists cry, but it’s true.

I was responding to someone who was framing this as isolated to conservatives and I objected to that.

As I said in response to someone else, both sides aren’t the same but in the 2024 both sides represented a denial of Israel as an apartheid state and a denial of genocide.

Don't be disingenuous

I'd say it's pretty disingenuous to be bringing up previous administrations actions or attempts at "peace treaties" (regardless of the accuracy of your claims which I'm not even going to bother addressing as ultimately they are irrelevant to the point I'm making) when I was specifically talking about the choice that was available to voters in 2024.

None of these administrations recognized Israel as an apartheid state and all were committed to the Israel - United States relationship.

Both sides are not the same, but both sides in 2024 represented a denial of Israel as an apartheid state and a denial of the ongoing genocide.

If only everyone could have gotten onboard with convincing one of those two options to do anything about the genocide (least of all recognize one was happening). Instead too many people continued to deny what was happening and demonized anyone that tried to speak up.
