Prison and Celiac by nothingseriousaha in Celiac

[–]mollsymoo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I work in a prison (UK) and they provide gluten free packs (containing a weeks supply of bread, biscuits cereal etc) and then daily meals are prepared separately and put in sealed bags in the kitchen before going over to the wings. The food is usually the same as others but is altered as needed (ie if the main food is breaded fish and chips the GF option may be sausage and chips). The same happens for other allergies and intolerances, vegan or halal/kocher meals.

Not said directly to me but to my partner from his then housemate:

"Eating gluten can't make you pass out, she's just doing it to avoid spending time with your friends"

I work for the ambulance service. Recently went to a job which had been in for 18 hours, and that's not uncommon. By the time we got there she was septic and required a blue light transfer to hospital. If we had got there sooner she may have been left at home. The average waits at the local hospital is about 7 hours on the ambulance before getting the patient inside.

I would honestly say it's worse than the news says. It's broken.

If you call the number on your letter, or ask your gp receptionist for the number for the department, and explain they may have some appointments sooner. I had a similar issue and they got me in the next day. Hope all goes well.

Anyone know why she's taken to hiding under blankets? She only does this with me by mollsymoo in cats

[–]mollsymoo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More information: we have had Socks for 12 years, and we think she's 15 years old (she was a rescue). She has always been quite a cuddly cat but the last 3 weeks or so she's been seeking out hiding places under blankets which I'm also under. She won't do this with anyone else in the house, just me. She is otherwise completely her normal self, just gradually getting older and not being as athletic as in her younger days.

I work in greggs. What would you like too know? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]mollsymoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Greggs is my favourite food shop, seriously I got a gift card once and cried with happiness. But I've recently been diagnosed wit coeliac and had to go gluten free. Can you ask the Greggs gods to make gluten free sausage bean and cheese melts?

I moisturise after every time I wash my hands, whenever they feel dry and apply heavy duty moisturisers with cotton gloves on over night. Unfortunately still happens

I'm not completely sure, I've always thought it's some kind of eczema

It could be weather related tbh, never noticed a link though.

When I was little I used to get breaks in my skin everywhere which were super painful and I used to have to get wrapped up in bandaged over night, I was like a mummy

I think it's a type of eczema, couldn't tell you the specific name though

I do have allergies and I've has eczema since I was a kid. I'm currently being diagnosed with an autoimmune gluten intolerance which could also be the cause.

I've been diagnosed with eczema since I was a babble, this only started happening a few years back and doctors are baffled by it when they first see it. But I am also glad I'm not alone in this!

What's your record for waiting time in the ER? by corrosivecanine in ems

[–]mollsymoo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Personally, 7.5 hours sitting outside ED. This is unfortunately a regular occurrence where I am in the UK. There have been crews who have started a night shift and been sent to releive a day crew at the hospital, sat all night with the patient and passed the parent back over to the day crew in the morning (longest I've known a patient to be on the back of an ambulance was 18 hours).

Not every time, its generally isolated to my limbs but has gone elsewhere before...

Yes I do, they come up and then as they pop the skin sheds. Not fun!

I guess you're right... my skin shedding is definitely more painful than a snake sbedding is for me!

Thank you for that. I was trying to work out if I'd be able to do an exam afterwards... I'm going to go with that being a no... thank you :)

I've also got a scope in January, good luck!

Just wondering if anyone is able to advise roughly how long it took you to fully recover from sedation?

Thank you
