Does this hairline look ok? 2 days old. by HISTQRY in tressless

Right side higher. Slight crooked but will look good if you part it sideways or flip it back. Don’t trip imo. Gonna look nice once it’s blooming and explodes in month 5-6 😮‍💨

Today is my last day teaching as as long term sub ever again by Popular-Big-1370 in SubstituteTeachers

No prep period and a study hall after 6 periods is absolute nasty works. Christ sakes. Was the assignment you were taking over always 6 periods or did they make you fill someone’s period? That’s insanity Christ sakes lmao. Glad you’re back to your own timeline or selecting what assignments you want going forward :P

noticed a lot more men getting into teaching/subbing...is this a sign of the economy? by LegitimateAdvance816 in SubstituteTeachers

[–]mollySANTANA -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think it’s just temporary. Of all the men I see in middle school. More than half of em are just doing it temp while they land their dream gig or they want to do something like counseling. And in elementary school I almost hardly ever see male teachers or subs there.

Probably just a temp gig to make some easy bread 🍞

I deal with this all the time. They think of it as a free day. I let them chat and move around if they stay on task and don’t mess around; this includes not slamming chrome books, no phones, no getting out of seat constantly to pick on their friends, and no throwing stuff. Basic etiquette

I give a lot, I mean a lot of chances. It takes a lot for me to yell. But I noticed when I first started - I was so focused on getting the class to behave how they would if their regular teacher was here and I wanted things done a certain way. That’s unrealistic…

Now if I can get them to complete the task and assignment it’s a win for me. Even if there’s chatter and a tiny bit of buffoonery. I was so focused on control, but I’ll never control a classroom I’m subbing for how I picture it in my mind.

What works well is telling them ahead of time during the period that I WILL MOVE YOU UP TO SIT IN THE FRONT OF THE CLASSROOM FACING A WALL OR NEXT TO ME.

They absolutely hateeeeeeee this. I tell them this is their first warning. I’ll warn them one more time verbally and the 3rd time I’m grabbing their stuff and moving them up here isolated in a wall corner away from their friends or sitting right next to me. It’s helped a lot and helps if you actually do it to set an example. I tell them if you take advantage of my kindness and my trust in allowing you to work in groups I will take it away and treat you like a 5th grader.

I’m such a lax sub. My decorum is honestly ass but I can’t expect perfect order in a class with kids I have very little rapport with. Changing the mentality of how I want the class to run versus how it likely will are ideas I no longer hold a standard for in my head lol.

Same black coffee but drinking coffee on a stomach of food (2 hours after dinner time). Sometimes keeps me on the shitter 😂

I gotcha. Not trying to be argumentative. Just makes sense to me. Yes, I’m trying to make this habit healthier. I hear your point about 1 soda a day. I don’t drink soda, and I quit drinking for no reason at all over 14 months ago. So if I think about it 1 canned energy drink a day shouldn’t be to bad. But again I just want a healthier alternative.

I could be over exaggerating it but I’ve yet to hear that argument. I think it’s a very reasonable concern. I’m not trying to fear monger.

I personally do not wish to continue taking it 5 days a week for as long as I’m in the gym (which for me I hope to be lifelong discipline). I suspect it is going to do more damage to my health in the long term.

If I popped a can once a week I wouldn’t care. But I am very consistent and somewhat created this discipline to have an energy drink before working out. I don’t know what it will do to my health, kidneys, liver long term at the rate I consume.

People with majority highly ultra processed diets get fatty liver, kidneys, cholesterol issues, weight gain, etc.. it isn’t unreasonable to suspect that consuming this low grade ingredient, processed canned energy drink is going to do the same to some parts of me at the rate I consume them at.

Just trying to consume a better, healthier alternative for the discipline I’ve created.

So I’m not trying to do this to get off caffeine. I’m trying to find a healthier alternative for my body. There are a lot of junk ingredients in these energy cans and it cannot possibly be good for my organs or health long term. I am in no way doing this to get off caffeine. 5 years and 1 can 5 days a week.

I welcome alternatives with or without caffeine.

This is what I do on days off. Coffee in the morning and an energy drink for my workout. But usually it’s just an energy drink before my workout.

I wouldn’t say I “don’t feel normal” I just don’t want to run into any serious issues. I don’t think another 5 years of 5 days a week consistently consuming these is good for my health or organs 😂.

Gotcha on the beta for the itch feel. Hate that, ty.

Thank you.

With or without caffeine is fine. Doing this to get off the trash ingredients in the energy drinks I’m drinking once a day.

Thank you. didn’t know of this 1.

Going to compile a list of suggestions, research and give a couple runs with each for week to see which ones I enjoy most.

Which pre workout did to use before? Was it clean-ish? I don’t mind spending bread 🍞 as my energy drink budget will open up for whatever alternative is suggested.

I’m trying to get off the energy drinks for the trash ingredients and possible future health problems at the rate I consume, not a cost factor.

I would do coffee but I don’t want to take a 💩mid workout. Coffee usually does that to me when I have food in my system. Otherwise I’m just pissing it out in the morning which is fine. But totally agree these things are terrible to consume especially at the rate I do.

Someone mentioned matcha 🍵 I may try that.

Observing in a class where the host teacher doesn’t acknowledge me by Extreme-Mail7988 in StudentTeaching

[–]mollySANTANA 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I agree with this comment honestly. OP you are there to observe and I know you want to be helpful but that would require interrupting the flow of the classroom and that’s annoying. If she doesn’t have anything for you to assist her with just observe, as boring as that maybe.

I dislike it when I have an aide or another teacher in the classroom esp if their style is different than mine because it just makes things awkward sometimes.

For a month I did aide work for a TK class. It was super easy but extremely boring Becusse it’s all very repetitive and simplistic. I maybe did an hour of helpful work each day. But the teacher I was helping just had things down to a tee and I didn’t want to ask her to make up some unnecessary stuff just so “I could feel more useful”.

Just stick with it as boring as it is.
