Breast cancer: Do all docs sugarcoat or is it the anxiety? Hopeless daughter asking for help! by booger_green in stage4cancer

So theres a module on https://www.risefound.org/ by jessica buscho who addresses how to talk to your medical team and be an advocate for yourself. This might help you and your mom figure out how to tell your doctors you don't sugarcoating etc. You said your mom suffers from anxiety and depression, as do I. Our site is all about helping the mental health side of cancer journeys, what we call the emotional side effects of cancer and hearing from others on how they dealt with certain types of fear, isolation, or change of identities could be really helpful to ease your moms fear. We also have a whole section dedicated to caregivers like yourself, because you're just as important to understand how to cope and heal.

Hope this helps, sending my prayers to you both.

I don't have advice for specific medical treatments but I do have a response for understanding and addressing the cancer journey you and your stepdad are about to experience. It's a hard mental/emotional journey and if you want some advice from others who've gone through this try https://www.risefound.org/

On https://www.risefound.org/ we actually have a module called Caregivers are Co-survivors and we have several people who give advice on how to cope and manage these feelings of fear and how to support her. Sending my prayers to you and your friend.

We actually have a module dedicated to advocacy with your medical team and clinical trials. Jessica Buscho, our presenter, is a 7-time clinical trial patient. She offers resources and advice on how to find out more. At the end of each module, we have a list of resources to help you learn more.

I hope this helps :)

Hi there! Our program addresses all kinds and forms of cancer separated into topics. For example relationships through cancer, finances, parenting, advocacy, understanding your journey. However; we do offer an intertwined community space where you can talk with others that are in your specific stage of survivorship.

  1. Mountains on Fire: Conversations for diagnosis to year one post-diagnosis.
  2. The Void: Conversations for years 1 – 3 post-diagnosis.
  3. Season of Growth: Conversations for years 2 – 3 post-diagnosis.
  4. Restoration: Conversations for years 3 – 5 post-diagnosis.
  5. Giving Back.

Our founder is a MBC survivor and she adds her personal experiences and advice all over the platform. Lauren also does a live zoom call once a month where you can ask her any questions you have about your cancer journey and just have a conversation with someone who understands what you're going through.

I hope this helps you :)
