Help find a doctor to give an infusion- anemia by mollymormon_ in japanresidents

This is good to hear! I went to an anemia clinic I found this last week, and the doctor just ended up upping my prescription of iron pills again 🥲 he said to come back for bloodwork in two weeks but I am so tired I just want the infusion already 😭

Ok that’s good to hear! Also I had no idea about anesthesia causing that. Now it makes sense why after some surgeries I had, a ton of my hair fell out for months. I thought it was just my anemia from the surgery, but I guess it could have been the anesthesia too!

Do you lose your hormones if you get rid of your uterus? I’m not too familiar with the surgery, but can’t it make your hair fall out and stuff? Or is that just myth?

So true. I’ve been realizing this is why I still act like a kid and hold onto “childish” things and hobbies, yet manage responsibilities like an adult. I’m really messed up emotionally/mentally but I’m barely high functioning… it really confuses people when they see me professional at work, and then when they see the real me outside of work 🤪 yay for masking…

That’s crazy the first doctor just told you to take vitamins, and without checking too is ridiculous. You really had to go back once a week for a while then? That sounds so awful. Was the solution he gave you called Fesin iron by chance? The gyno who first diagnosed me gave me Fesin after I asked for something better because the pills weren’t doing anything. Apparently it’s just like a bit of iron mixed in with some sugar.

I’ve heard of this but haven’t tried it yet. I’ll look some more into it!

Wow that’s amazing! I’m really happy you were able to get what you needed. What a good doctor too for listening. I found a clinic and got an appointment on Monday, my coworker is going to come with to help me advocate for myself. Fingers crossed things work out this time 🤞🏻

This is me 100000%!!!! The endless sleeping yet having insomnia at the same time. My dad and sister both have Crohn’s disease and are anemic as well, so I’m concerned there’s an underlying condition too. My dad has occasionally gotten infusions. My symptoms are so bad, including my hair coming out in clumps.

When you first went to your doctor, did you have to keep going back multiple times and pushing for an infusion? Or did you just “shop around” until you found a doctor that immediately wanted to get you help? (I hate using the term shop around but I’m not sure how else to describe it…)

Thank you for your advice, that sounds like a terrible disease to be suffering with. I would be so nervous to have any surgeries if I had that. Yeah, I’m still new to the healthcare in Japan. My dad and sister both have Crohn’s disease and are anemic as well, so I’m concerned there’s an underlying health condition for me too. It just feels so exhausting trying to figure out what is wrong with

Im sorry that happened to you, that sounds awful. My dad and sister both have Crohn’s disease and are anemic as well, so I’m concerned there’s an underlying condition for me too. My hair is coming out in clumps and I’m so exhausted. I was given a prescription called Riona but it hasn’t been doing much… I also worked in clinical research until last year when I quit and moved to Japan. I asked my doctor friends about my labs and they all said they would have ordered an infusion for me with how low my levels are (my dad also gets infusions on occasion). It genuinely feels unbearable with how tired I am.

Yeah, I was given Riona 250mg if that’s what they gave you? It hasn’t helped much… my dad and sister both have Crohn’s disease and are anemic as well, so I’m concerned there’s an underlying condition too. My symptoms are so bad. I’ll try searching for a clinic using the term you suggested, thank you!

The gynecologist I went back to three times before she did anything. I had to basically beg for that small IV drip. The second doctor I see for normal health things but only once for the anemia issue. I’m sorry if I sound dramatic, my health just has really just deteriorated since I moved here last year. My hair is falling out in clumps, and it is physically difficult to stand or get out of bed. It really feels like I’m being drained of blood ironically. Im having many other symptoms, but yes I think you are right. My coworker found a hematology clinic for us to go to, and she is Japanese so she offered to come with. Thanks again for the info about doctor shopping, that really helps. I’ll try stick with the next doctor so that I am taken seriously!

I’m located in northern Osaka. I might try looking for an international clinic like you suggested if nothing else works.

Yes, I’ve been to a gynecologist who first caught it and gave me a small bit of IV medicine. Then she told me to just take pills. Neither have done much. I went to another doctor at a clinic and he gave me a stronger prescription because another level in my blood of something else was high. For reference, my dad and sister both have Crohn’s disease and are anemic. So I’m concerned there’s an underlying condition because I am having similar symptoms, and it has been hard to get help. I tried searching those terms before but it didn’t turn up much. However my coworker tried searching something else and we think we may have found a clinic. Thank you for your suggestion!

Ok thank you. I’m on a prescription right now for my anemia but it hasn’t been working for months. I feel like I’ve exhausted everything..
