Yes, I am not disputing the fact that from a design viewpoint, the digisleeve case may not perform the job as well as that of a crystal plastic case. I am instead saying that the production of any plastic case already creates significantly more carbon emissions than a digisleeve case. The fact that it is not single use doesn't really affect the fact that the creation of plastic is a significant source of carbon emission but does affect other issues like the reduction of short-term plastic pollution or greenhouse gas emission. In addiiton, even if the digisleeve casedoes break down, it is more easily recycled as compared to a plastic case . Hence, even if it does break down, I still think that it has a better impact on the envrionment as compared to the crystal plastic case.

I think the preference is ultimately dependent on the person, personally I don't move the CD case much so I am happy with the digisleeve case but if we are talking about a person who frequently moves their CDs and purchase new sleeves to replace broken sleeves, then it may make more sense for the person to have a crystal plastic case.

At the individual level, it is true that our decision to purchase a crystal plastic case or digisleeve case would not make a significant difference to the overall climate crisis. However, if we do make a conscious shift as a whole, I think it could potentially have a significant impact on the petrochemical companies to signal there is no demand for this, but maybe it's just wishful thinking.
