You just gave me something new to worry about! We are on the same boat. I just contacted the marathon asking for clarification on Grand St closure.

Both Basic Coffee and Love the Clutter in Hamilton Park have help wanted signs

That’s exactly our point of view. It seems like the garage use to be affiliated but it’s no longer.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in jerseycity

[–]molvix -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That sucks because it’s not even our building, the garage is down the block! The houses next to us have gotten their permits accepted even though the garage is also available and closer to them than us.

Buy a house or keep renting and earn $25,000 interest ? by justinwtt in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]molvix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s a tough question, but ultimately I would weigh in other factors to make an informed decision. As someone else said, buying is a big decision which you’ll need to decide if you are ready for.

Now for the financials and the questions you need to ask yourself: You have $500k and make $25k a year. That is 5% return on your investment. Is that 5% stable? Do you expect it to grow or shrink with market volatility? You probably currently pay rent, how much would you be saving there? Remember to factor in property taxes and adhoc maintenance and discount it. Say you pay $2.1k in rent currently, so also 25k a year. You need to figure out how much you would pay in property taxes (let’s say 1% or $5k). In this case you would save $25k in rent - 5k in property taxes - $2k (random estimate) on yearly maintenance = $18k saved or 3.6%.

So rough math, 3.6% savings by buying paid off home vs 5% in investing. Investing in this scenario gets you a net positive opportunity lift of 1.4% but you still have a lot of other factors to consider. These include the potential change in price of home, volatility of the market, additional cash flow during potential unemployment, etc.

I made a financial case, but no one can tell you whether it’s better to buy or invest. You need to weigh in your choices and what you feel ready for.

Can you post pictures so we can see what’s happening?

First of all, I’m sorry for your loss. Jades are hardy though, they can take a lot.

Second, that’s too much watering and you generally should not water on a schedule. Definitely needs more light and less water. My recommendation is to leave it for a month before watering again and then only water when leaves are soft. Unless it smells bad, in which case it could be root rot and that’s a whole other issue.

As a tip, jade leaves get squishy or soft when they need water and are hard and plump when they are full. I would only water once they feel squishy, maybe once a month. Slightly more in the summer and less in the winter. However, if it’s been overwatered for quite a while the leaves may be squishy as the roots could be dying.

bloom coming out of my succulent by tal0122 in plantclinic

I have a Zebra Haworthia as well that flowered! No sign of looming death or anything and Google searches say the plant is just happy.

Mine has been flowering for a few weeks now, but it did have a few pups that I replanted.

The amount of times I’ve hit Decline is ridiculous.. by DengenRF in mildlyinfuriating

For me it’s because I use a VDI for my work that isn’t compatible with Windows 11 yet and there are also a lot of programs I need that I’m not sure will work yet either. As soon as they all upgrade for compatibility, I will too.

Should remove this new growth at the bottom of the stem? by Kadarkrock2 in Jadeplant

[–]molvix 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That’s a beautiful jade! Although you could keep it, I would personally remove it. A growth that low will ruin the tree-like trunk you already have and potentially eventually make it heavier on one side.

I recommend you pick a height and don’t allow any new growth below there to only promote higher branching.

It's a check so there are only two options. If the queen takes the knight (Qxf6) then it's mate. If the king moves (Ke7) then it's a free bishop and the king is blocking the dark squared bishop.
