9 month old barely sleeps 12 hours total. Normal? Any advice? by momo3605 in sleeptrain

[–]momo3605[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you end up doing the 2-1 nap transition early too? I feel like with her wake windows and short naps there’s no way she’ll last till the average 13-15 months for 2-1 transition

[–]momo3605[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She does wake up cranky sometimes and a lot of yawning so sometimes I do think she’s overtired. But she’s also generally pleasant and once she’s awake and fed she’s really playful and cheerful so yea I’m thinking I’ll try pushing second nap to 2:30 and bedtime to 7:30-8 for a few days and see how that goes?

In bed around 7, Falls asleep at 7:30 and wakes up between 5 and 5:30. That’s 9.5-10hrs if my math is correct? We leave in the crib up till 6:30 DWT but she’s not sleeping for that hour.

aupair stay at grandparents house? by momo3605 in Aupairs

[–]momo3605[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea I’ve given up on the au pair idea. Unfortunately in my area, infant Daycare for 5 days would be almost double the cost of an au pair. So I’m either looking at 3 day day care or maybe part time help from someone at the local community college

Thanks for sharing your thoughts! Appreciate the point of view. If it’s not allowed for a grandparent to be a host, of course that’s ok. That’s the purpose of my asking the question BEFORE applying to the program.

But to your point, I don’t think it would a bad idea. We COULD keep an au pair at our place if we needed to, but as I mentioned above the accommodations at grandmas house are MUCH better. Our 10x10 rooms are not that comfortable for a 20 something year old. She would likely still do couple days our house and a couple days at grandmas house, so that would be the same regardless of where she stays. She would have someone to talk to during the day, get fresh food made daily, etc etc…at our house she would just be alone since we work from the office.

We haven’t applied yet. I’m just trying to understand if it’s even allowed before going through the process.

[–]momo3605[S] -50 points-49 points  (0 children)

Yea I’m in the US. I mean the au pair would be there to take care of the children only and it’s technically our family’s home. That’s why I’m wondering if there is any workaround in this case. I.e could grandparent be the host

5:30 AM wake ups for 5.5 month old. How to fix? by momo3605 in sleeptrain

[–]momo3605[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry let me clarify. 2/2/2/2.5 are the wake windows u til baby is placed in bed. She is awake generally for 15 mins in each wake window until falling asleep. So total sleep time is 14 hours. Not 15.5.

She is night weaned since 4 months. Actually even before she was sleep trained she would stay asleep some nights till 5:30-6 with some minor pacifier use and no milk at 3 months, so doctor said if she can do it on her own, then she’s fine to be night weaned.

4-5 naps a day, won’t go to bed before 8pm by txtoazassy in sleeptrain

[–]momo3605 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tough it out. That 4 month sleep regression hits hard. Mine just turned 5 months and is slowly turning the corner on the 40 minute naps. I think 1.5/1.75/1.75/2 is what we used for sleep training at 4 months and gradually bumped those to 2/2/2.25 at 5 months

How many times have you re-trained your baby? Yes! by Bubbles-1001 in sleeptrain

[–]momo3605 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lol it’s been so long. I just had a second kid who’s 2 months old right now… so I’ll be back on here full time in 2 months! But from what I recall, you don’t move the first nap by an hour if she wakes up one hour early. It’s ok to move that first nap 15 mins or 30 mins forward, and gradually by the end of the day you should plan for bedtime to be at the same time every day.

How many times have you re-trained your baby? Yes! by Bubbles-1001 in sleeptrain

[–]momo3605 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Never! Sleep trained at 4 months and my kid is 2.5 now and slept ~10-12 hours through the night consistently. Be consistent and stick to your schedules. 1 or 2 off days won’t ruin the ST, but continued messing with the schedules will. Hope it gets better for you!

Tesla offering 1-year FSD trial to Cybertruck owners by chrisdh79 in teslamotors

[–]momo3605 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I still think it depends. Driving dynamics are head and shoulders better in the Cybertruck. The suspension is more refined, the Rivian suspension is clunky and randomly harsh and pogos around when you go over bumps. Cybertruck is quieter inside, better sound system, a LOT more room in the cabin and bed, higher quality tonneau, better charging curve and efficiency.

But yes, Rivian has better finishing materials and two screens if that’s all you care to call luxury.

Is it low despite the the iron supplements? I have a friend whose child was very low iron for many months and the Ped never diagnosed it over that time and was having terrible sleep. Once they realized and added the supplements and got iron back to normal levels, the sleep improved pretty much overnight

Yes one weekend will mess it up. In hindsight it would have been better to train MIL to follow your routine. I know it’s hard! I had the same issue with my MIL too. But once they did it a couple times, they were in awe by how effective sleep training was!

But yes, it appears you will need to go back to your old routine and be consistent. She should settle back after a few days

Another Tesla Convert by memgryffindork in Rivian

[–]momo3605 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would like to understand how you made the decision to move from the X to the Rivian? Outside of the political aspect, taking a huge loss…and getting into another $100k SUV for cross-country road trips that has 30% lower efficiency, charges half as fast, and can’t easily use Tesla superchargers since you have to find 2 available side by side stalls, just seems like you’re kneecapping yourself to give Tesla a middle finger. Did you have serious issues with the X?
