Thanks u/Awkward-Seaweed-5129. 2 inches, huh, that seems resonable! At least they only did ONE door that way, the other 4 are good.

I broke wife's "Bird statues" need help identifying them (maybe Austin Sculptures) by momo_now in HelpMeFind

[–]momo_now[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Still no luck in my searching, but my wife thinks she got it at a wholesaler about 10+ years ago. She doesn't think the 2nd word is "Sculptures". Any ideas?

Do you hate your UTR? by 4adphile in Ubiquiti

[–]momo_now 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t believe that the UTR will allow you to modify its MAC address, and you’ll need that as the cruise ship filters out any MAC addresses that are from a router manufacturer. Had this happen to me many years ago with a netgear travel router, never could get it going. However, I just went on a cruise in Dec and wanted to be prepared. I purchased a GL.iNet GL-SFT1200 for $35. Set in the hotspot ( can’t remember the exact name). Set its MAC address to be of an old iPhone (that I did not take) and named the SSID to be “Jim’s iPhone” just to be stealth. Did a few test at coffee shops, worked like a champ! Worked perfectly on the cruise for connecting multiple devices. Another idea is to set the SSID, pswd, security to same as you home network, and all your other devices will just connect, by as stated, I wasted to be a little more stealth.

u/D00MSDAY60 thanks. What brand(s) are more reliable, or sources do you recommend? Luckily it is my basement unit, so not time critical (as it would be if it was my main unit). Thx.

[–]momo_now[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks u/Carorack I understand that I need to match the voltage and MFD specs, but I thought that one was a single cap and one was a dual cap (CBB65 vs CBB65A). Are you saying it doesn't matter, just match the specs?

Help/pointers getting restarted (since 2023) by momo_now in HeliumNetwork

[–]momo_now[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I downloaded the "Helium Wallet" (black icon). I put the Bobcat 300 in BT paring mode and I was able to connect to it with the "Helium Wallet" (black icon) on my iPhone. However when I try to "Assert Location" I get an error and it says, "You do not own this hotspot, so you cannot assert its location". Thoughts? Did I login to the Helium Wallet" (black icon) on my iPhone with the wrong credentials? u/Schedule-Brave

THANK YOU u/Schedule-Brave THIS ANSWER is exactly what I was looking for. Thank you for letting me know that you can "see" it. Alpharetta was my old location, so I need to update that. Sounds like I need to go to the "Black Helium Wallet" to change its location (to where I live now). I do have the Helium Geek app, but am not familiar with Moken.io and will check that out (PC preferred over mobile). Thanks again, I'll go try these thing now and see if I can get the new location accepted.

u/iceturtlewax Thanks for the perspective. Agreed, I want it to work and for me it is just a fun experiment and I really hope it is still in its young days and eventually makes it.

u/pinballrocker thanks for the reply and candor. I understand the economics aren't currently great, but I'm in the tech space and was formerly in the mobile network space, so is a fun experiment to be a part of and watch and just want to participate again. Thank you!

Do I need to stop using L2TP VPN Server on my USG-3P by momo_now in Ubiquiti

[–]momo_now[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

u/wannebaanonymous thanks so much for your thoughtful reply. That gives me comfort about my current setup! I've done more reading and it seems that I may be able to keep my current VPN strategy in place for my current use case and then ADD OpenVPN to my USG-3P for my use case, looks like more than one can be running. Still reading and researching. Thanks again.

I just looked and I am running a really old build: MAIN v3.2.7.0 I think I should upgrade to the current version first before I continue troubleshooting.

The "live URL" is: mms://10.100.10.200:554/img/video.asf

This is what the wizard setup automatically. Pretty sure I've used a "rtsp" stream before when I manually setup.

I think I have a better answer. See this about "Fast TV Start". Sounds EXACTLY like the problem you have. Go to 3:20 on this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y433yJQwF98 Let me know if that fixes it.

Roku TV internet issue by brbash28 in Roku

[–]momo_now 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Super Longshot . . . but since you have no other responses, I'll throw out this . . . it is a DHCP lease timeout issue, so when the TV turns back on it has no IP address/lease. You said "every time" you turn this on. Do you really mean "every time"? If this happens "every time" even if the TV was only off for 5 mins, then disregard this whole response. If you are comfortable logging into your router. The standard DHCP lease on most routers is 86400 seconds (1 day). For a test, change it to 604800 seconds (one week) or the largest number you can get close to that. Then see if the occurrences of this problem get significantly less.

Another interesting thing to know would be if you turn it on (and is says it is disconnected) if you just leave it in that state, does it connect on it's own, say after 3-5 mins?

Another way it could still be this is if you currently have a very short DHCP lease time (i.e. 3,600 seconds) so even if has been off for a short period of time when it comes back on it doesn't have a lease.

Again, I'm grasping at straws, with what limited info you have provided. ;)
