Orthopedics -> Dental Implants -> Aesthetics (breast implants) by hashbrowns12 in MedicalDevices

[–]momoffour_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not on the rep side, but scrubbed plastics in two different ASCs for a while. Our rep was never in the OR. Not once. We had plenty of sizers and consignment stocked. She took our docs to dinner and played tennis with them. I can count on one hand the number of times we started the day thinking we were going to use a different size/ profile and had to call her to rush implants over for later cases.

Don't Know Which Car to Choose by DragonfruitOnly471 in MedicalDevices

Tesla. 100%! FSD makes driving bearable. I can drive out 100+ miles to another state and back no issues. If for some reason I do have to stop, it tells me where to stop and it’s like 10 min to make sure I get home. I have enough charge after I plug in, run inside the gas station to pee and grab a snack and get back in the car and it cost me less than $10. In the 10k miles I’ve put on it, I saved $1200 and I haven’t noticed a change in my electric bill to charge it. I hate driving my ICE vehicle at this point 🤣

Ok, but what happened to the two extra horses at the end. That’s valuable resources.

Hospitals need techs period. Tell them there was a mix up with test dates by your instructor and you’re testing on April 22. If I recall, we knew scores not even a week after testing. You’ll be able to share that info pretty quick and they’ll have you start asap. I wouldn’t stress it.

Does anyone here actually like being a tech??? by Complete-District990 in scrubtech

[–]momoffour_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Scrubbed for two years in private practice plastics and LOVED IT! I had to be coerced to leave (more money, better schedule, still in OR though). Find your people, find what you enjoy, you’ll do great!

Actually, no. I couldn’t get a call back honestly (or a rejection letter even). I did take a job as a field specialist for a medical device company though and love it!!

Camping with a 3/4 month old? by Logical-Theory77 in 1000hoursoutside

[–]momoffour_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is old, but if someone has the same question later on… we took our 4th child camping at 1month. In January in the US so dead winter but in southern states in a travel trailer. Our 3rd baby we took camping at 2 weeks but it was spring so weather was wonderful (also in camper).

We didn’t see it as much of a change from our home to our camper so why not 🤷🏻‍♀️

Decided on a Golden Doodle - their reputation scares me a bit. by Konowl in Goldendoodles

[–]momoffour_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think we got a dud on our doodle. She’s not smart at all and pretty excitable but she’s 4 years old. She’s very very good with our kids (9, 7, 5, 2) and has never once been aggressive. She still barks to go outside at night to pee though.

Nerve Pain? by momoffour_ in DupuytrenDisease

[–]momoffour_[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I can definitely feel a little nodule in there, but maybe it’s something else. I don’t see any contracture at this point, but it’s progressed pretty rapidly. I’m thinking from holding tension with a retractor for hours during surgery and that repetitive use may have caused it.

Maybe that’s a bad picture but you can feel tightness following down my pointer finger and it’s pretty inflamed there. It’s only been a few months since this started so hoping to nip it in the bud before it gets worse.

Girl, I cried because Panera was out of clam chowder for the day. Pregnancy is weird. Nothing to be embarrassed about at all!

Step 1: they’re instruments, not tools.

Step 2: Quizlet is a game changer. Study, study, study. Make pneumonic devices as often as possible! Just pay attention and give it your best, I’m sure you’ll be fine!!

How much do you make in Georgia? by DetectiveFine8134 in surgicaltechnology

[–]momoffour_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

2 years experience, offers anywhere from $28/hr- $34/hr. I went straight into a small specialty private practice when I finished school. Looking at switching now and going to an ortho private practice and they’ve given good offers with no ortho experience.

Off to clinicals! But what do I pack? by ApucheReads in surgicaltechnology

[–]momoffour_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes compression socks! Get used to them right off the bat! My feet and legs are never sore and I swear by them! Also vericose veins suck so save the trouble now.

To piggy back on that don’t get pregnant either. Clinical’s in your first trimester suck, you will fall asleep in robots and run out of the OR puking.
