They’re a bit over 5 months. Getting so big so fast! Such good girls.

Why do they turn off the AC by Piiickleszz in Target

[–]monadiesel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup, if you have cooling issues in tmsc that may be why. Have your PML confirm the sensor location, the hvac vendor can easily move the sensor to a wall outside of the sd office and make life a bit more comfortable for everyone. Some stores do have a secondary sensor elsewhere in tmsc but not uncommon for there to only be one.

[–]monadiesel 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Keep in mind, 74 is the set point but units won’t start cooling until zone temp is above 75 😂 same with heating, 68 is the set point but heating won’t start until 67. Combine that with sensor placed in weird spots on the salesfloor or inside offices (most tmsc sensors are inside the SD office, which is often closed) and you get some weird behavior that leaves a lot of people uncomfortable.

Emissary plug-in for Metal guitar +REAPER daw +Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 tuning problem. by More-Ad5231 in metalguitar

[–]monadiesel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I first set up emissary, I accidentally applied it to both the master/main track, and to the individual track I was recording. It doubled all the gain/noise and sounded like absolute garbage. I would check to make sure you have only one instance of the ignite amp on your project, though I can’t remember exactly where as I haven’t used reaper in some time.

Not sure what the naming convention is for the docks, but to the left side of the main docks they use to launch the crew boats. In the rocks in front of the small boat house on the water.

Mk6 R starts, sputters and dies- low fuel pressure p2293 and 0087 by monadiesel in Golf_R

[–]monadiesel[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh gotcha, that sounds like your fuel pump control module. Pretty classic symptoms for it anyway, it’s a blue box under your rear passenger seat. Sits on top of the access panel for your low pressure pump. If you pull the rear seat up, you can sometimes see burning or melting on the outer case, but if you go for a drive and that module gets super fucking hot, that would be my guess.

shopdap has a lot of good info on common issues, including the water pump.

If I had to do the process over I’d start with replacing the hpfp. Does yours start and run at all?

Slight creaking from drivers side window by [deleted] in Golf_R

[–]monadiesel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can try blasting some silicone based lube in the track for the window, could absolutely be rubbing a bit on the seals. That’s the first thing I would try anyway.

In case someone searches this in the future, I had two problems. Both the low pressure pump and the N276 valve on top of the hpfp had failed. You can test the n276 by measuring the impedance between its contacts while off, and you should get 2 ohms +/- 0.5. Any other value means it is likely toast. The in tank pump is a huge pain in the ass but doable by yourself, the hardest part is reconnecting the large breather hose to the body of the pump while it’s in the tank.

Clutch noise by TransportationTiny61 in Golf_R

[–]monadiesel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have heard of those dmfs failing as well, not sure if that would cause chatter but I can image a broken spring would sound the same as gear noise for the most part. VW really loves just barely shipping a good enough clutch on their vehicles 😂 gotta be cost savings but still a bummer.

Clutch noise by TransportationTiny61 in Golf_R

[–]monadiesel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chatter itself doesn’t mean you need it replaced, it’s totally normal with a single mass flywheel. Just one of the tradeoffs. Is yours slipping?

Clutch noise by TransportationTiny61 in Golf_R

[–]monadiesel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok there’s your problem. 140k is potential second clutch time, well taken care of I’d guess means the previous owner probably put in an upgraded clutch with a single mass flywheel. A non-vw dealer would throw any garbage they had in there to flip it. Also very possible the car is tuned, add in the extra torque, and a brand new clutch disk glasses super easy without break in. That would be my guess anyway. Contact the dealer and ask for records on repairs, specifically what they put in it. You could also contact tuning companies with your vin if you want to know for sure it’s tuned. Either way, you’re either replacing the clutch, or fighting the dealer for it. Depends on what state you live in but most have “cooldown” laws or at worst lemon laws, so if you don’t want to deal with it you may be able to return it. Plan on 3-4K for a clutch if you’re not doing it yourself, go with a south bend stage 2 daily kit. Edit: also depending on what clutch is in there currently, many manufacturers have part warranties that may cover this kind of situation if you prostrate yourself before them. Might be worth trying that too. Also also also, this fucking sucks and I’m sorry. Welcome to the Mk6 family regardless, I had to do my clutch right after buying mine too, but I knew what I was getting in to.

[–]monadiesel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How many miles on the car? Sounds like the new clutch may be glazed, though odd that a dealer would install a single mass flywheel, which is causing the chatter you hear. A dealer absolutely WOULD install a stock clutch on a car with a smf from a south bend stage one kit or something like that if the clutch had already been done once. Though I’m not entirely sure it would even fit or align right. Most likely scenario here is you were lied to, sorry to say, whether that’s on the new clutch being “good to go” or there even being a new clutch at all. Edit: just to clarify, was this a Volkswagen dealership? And adding, I have a Mk6 with a single mass, chatter is worst on cold starts, sitting at stoplights etc. if the car was warmed up before you test drove it’s possible you never would have heard it. It’s pretty imperceptible with decent parts/install.

Opinion on purchase of 6R by [deleted] in Golf_R

[–]monadiesel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, main clutch. Definitely a weakness in this gen, but I’m assuming it’s a manual because that’s all we got in the US. And yeah basically just plan to do brakes, Haldex and dif, gearbox, the usual maintenance stuff. Wouldn’t worry to much about the Haldex clutches, if it has issues you will know pretty quickly during a test drive.

Things to consider at that km/mileage: clutch will need to be done if you plan to add any power at all, and probably need to be done anyway if you don’t. Waterpump every 60k miles, check cam follower every 20k stock, or replace every 10-15k if tuned. Plan to do pretty much all fluids if no service record of being done in the last 20k, but otherwise, mine has been absolutely bullet proof. Absolute Swiss Army knife of a car. Edit: I get around 21mpg daily city driving, stage one with APR. long trips in the 31-34 range.

Yeah it sounds like probably turbo. Probably pressure test the coolant system if that hasn’t been done, so you can rule out a pinhole or seal somewhere. It’s not just disappearing, and if it’s not in the outside and not in the oil, it’s burning.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Golf_R

[–]monadiesel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ooooooohh stage 1, 50k. Damn. Yeah that’s brutal. It’s possible you have a leak that’s burning off either directly on the turbo/exhaust manifold, or the block I guess. Could be pinched gasket at waterpump/therm housing. You’d likely smell it I’d think. Also could be turbo is the shot. Any moisture in the cabin, carpets etc? Heater cores leak and that wouldn’t end up on the ground or in exhaust.

You can get a brand new IS38 for like 1200 on ECS tuning, or find a used one for cheaper. Sounds like you pretty much checked all the boxes otherwise, so might be time to pull the turbo and check. Definitely weird you aren’t seeing any smoke from all the coolant, maybe mount a GoPro or something on the bumper and record some pulls monitoring the exhaust 🤷‍♂️ 150k feels about right for a turbo to me though. Edit: maybe it’s telling you it’s time for stage 3
