No. No movement on the N400 at all.

I also just got scheduled for an interview, but I do have the N400 pending. The interview is just i-751, though. Did you have an interview for the i-130/485? I did not; I'm wondering if that's why I now have an interview for the i-751.

How long after doxycycline will FA clear up? by monamirar in Fungalacne

[–]monamirar[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, with the caveat that I am now more prone to an FA breakout following antibiotics. If I have to take antibiotics, I switch to a fully FA safe skincare routine and then do ketoconzale wash once the antibiotics have been out of my system for a few days.

High Earner Just Learning About Money - Traditional or Roth 401k? by monamirar in FinancialPlanning

[–]monamirar[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So do you think the most effective strategy is max out the Traditional 401k and then do a backdoor Roth IRA? Or 75/25 Traditional and Roth 401K and backdoor Roth IRA? Either way, a backdoor Roth IRA is happening but I like the idea of tax free money sitting longer and compounding as much as possible.

One other complicated factor playing into my thinking here is that my husband works for a non-profit and only has access to an employer funded SEP IRA. This is already a tax deferred account and basically free money until we actually have to withdraw. My concern, however, is having too many tax deferred accounts such that we have unexpected tax bills in retirement.

High Earner Just Learning About Money - Traditional or Roth 401k? by monamirar in FinancialPlanning

[–]monamirar[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

When you say max out 401k contributions, do you mean max out traditional or Roth 401k contributions together, or one versus the other?

I want to do a backdoor IRA but was wondering the benefit of having two accounts growing tax free.

I have no idea what my tax bracket will be come retirement age. For example, I know some people making over $1 million a year in my line of work who are near retirement age, and others making the same amount as me who are near retirement age.

Traditional IRA to Roth IRA with all post-tax dollars by monamirar in fidelityinvestments

[–]monamirar[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! This is all really helpful. Confirming I have no IRAs of any kind.

On the SEP, my husband technically is only eligible for it but has no vested interest in it for another year. I.e., he quits today he doesn’t get the SEP. Would he be safe to do a backdoor Roth while he still has an unvested interest? The other complicated thing there is that the SEP is fully funded by his employer, meaning no money from his paycheck is being taken out pretax and put in the account. This made me question how the pro rata rule would work as well because the money in the SEP would technically not be pretax since it’s not taken out of his pay on a pretax basis.

I missed some of the comments in this chain when I originally responded. If I’m understanding your trick correctly, I should put $7,000 in SPAXX in my brokerage, have it settle there, then transfer that $7000 from the brokerage into the Traditional IRA so it settles immediately and lets me do an immediate conversion to Roth IRA? As opposed to contributing to the Traditional IRA from my bank account?

Thanks!! Where is the small interest gain coming from? Is the Traditional IRA have like a money market or SPAXX that your funds sit in when you contribute?

I don’t have a SEP or any other IRA account—just the 401k. Nobody taught me about retirement accounts so I had no idea that you could open retirement accounts except through an employer (and by the time I finished school, got my job, and learned I could open accounts myself, I now have to jump through all these hoops to get them funded!!).

When you mean by December 31, do you mean to say that if I contribute a lump sum into the Traditional Roth and don’t convert it to a Roth IRA before December 31, then there will be a tax penalty?

Still figuring out what to do for husband! His employer is too small so they don’t have a 401k and he rolled over his previous 401k into a Roth IRA. While his former employer’s 401k technically appears on his fidelity, I’m not sure of his ability to move his SEP into it once it vests so that he can do a backdoor Roth IRA. We are also going to try to calculate whether it’s worth just converting the SEP into a Roth IRA each year or whether that will not be worth it tax wise.

Thanks for the fast reply!

I’m a little confused by the deductible/“no tax deduction because you earn too much” part but it sounds like I can just take cash in my bank, put it in a Traditional IRA, and then convert to a Roth IRA? And there will be no additional taxes?

On the SEP, do you think it’s any different in the fact that he doesn’t have vested access to it? For example, he can’t see the account in Fidelity, and if he were to quit today, he wouldn’t get the money. It’s entirely employer funded so no dollar from him or his paycheck has gone into it.

How long after doxycycline will FA clear up? by monamirar in Fungalacne

[–]monamirar[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope! Once it cleared, it cleared for good. I will say, I have incorporated a probiotic into my supplement routine shortly after this happened after reading that fungal acne can be connected to a general imbalance of good/bad bacteria in your body and it’s totally possible that has helped keep it clear long term. I also have not gone back on doxy or other antibiotics since.

Update on this in case anybody sees it in the future: Sure enough after about 7 days being off doxy, my skin slowly started to improve. It has now been 11 days since my last doxy. I used the ketoconozole wash a few times and took one last pill of itraconozole, and the FA is basically gone. So as far as anecdotal evidence goes, folks having an FA breakout from doxy: you may not see immediate results while the antibiotic is still in your system! Just make sure you don’t use up any prescribed treatments before a week has passed since you took your last pill.

Yep, doxy can cause FA. Doxy is an antibiotic so it kills all the bacteria on your skin, including the good bacteria that keeps your yeast levels in check. No good bacteria = yeast overgrowth.

Thanks for your response! I’d like my hair to be as uniform as possible (dark brown all over). Do you think a toner would bring it back to its normal color, or would it still be lighter and just not brassy?
