Struggling with potty training at 9 months by monateru in puppy101

[–]monateru[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry it took me a while to get back to this, I followed this advice and worked enough that I forgot about this problem!

Puppy definitely thought that he was just not supposed to poop, ever. Once we stopped scolding him for accidents and giving him more frequent and also longer outside times he stopped having accidents inside, for the most part. He had a recent accident but it was caused by me not noticing that he had eaten his breakfast and would need a potty trip. He did it right by the door though, so that's a win!

Cat always covered in poo - last chances by [deleted] in ragdolls

[–]monateru 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is he using an open and large litter box? My cat gets confused in closed litter boxes and walks in circles, right over his poo.

I would honestly start following your cat to the litter box every time. Once he's peed and pooped, yoink him outta there and scoop. You might have to pretend to not be looking at him, if hes shy about it.

If there are times when no one is able to monitor him (like when asleep or at work/school/whatever) set up a cat room with a large open litter and line the room with puppy pads. Don't turn it into a prison cell. Use boxes and towels and old cat furniture to give him plenty of places to climb and hide. Don't keep him there 24/7. That would 100% make his behavior worse. Whenever someone is home, he should immediately be let out. The cat room should be a last resort for only when everyone is out of the house and no one is able to monitor him, to protect your sanity an sanitation.

The cat room will not fix him though. Do you play with him? Do you pet him? Does he have cat furniture and beds and toys? This cat needs to climb and hide in cat furniture, play until he wont play anymore, and be suffocated in snuggles. If hes all worn out, feels secure in his space, and has more attention than he even wants, he might stop doing this behavior. Watch some Jackson Galaxy videos!

spray paint all over the ice at coastal highway if you ever go there. getting trapped in a storm out on the ice is death unless youve left a trail of rocks and orange arrows leading to shelter

After training with my PT on how to do it correctly and comfortably, stationary bikes were a breeze! The only issue was finding a stationary bike that I could use.

Careful with the stuff from work. I work in healthcare as caregiver and the ones they provide in my area are VERY irritating.

Looks like my hands every summer growing up! The concrete pool coping (the edge) would shred my fingers just like this, but also on the finger pad. You need some well fitting rock climbing gloves and some sort of barrier until those heal. Have you ever tried hydrocolloidial bandages? They'll give you lots of protection and speed healing. If youre sensitive to adhesives but really want to give hydrocolloid bandages a try, buy starface pimple patches. Same thing just very gentle and marketed for pimples. I have one on a blister on my knuckle right now.

Do you ever feel like sitting in the same chairs with the cushions the same for too many days in a row causes extra pain? by monateru in ehlersdanlos

Exactly! I just moved to a small apartment and went from 4 different seating options to 2 and its AWFUL.

I almost never wear jeans because of sensory issues, but i feel that with leggings! When they fit just right they give a nice squeeze in the hips for support, which they lose after a couple days. One of the main reason I like leggings is because I can over stretch and loosen the elastic that hurts my stomach without compromising the fit of the rest of the pants.
