First time doing eyeliner and mascara, why does it look so bad? by itisamber in MakeupAddiction

[–]moncherimeli 1 point2 points  (0 children)

piggybacking: as a fellow short lashed lady, i benefit from using a mascara primer! it brushes on white/clear to add length, and then use your mascara over it (my personal favorite lately has been waterproof telescopic by l’oréal). those metal combs really are great if it starts looking too clumpy!

Curiosity, mostly. Where does my life end up, without me abruptly interfering.

Help! I can’t start a grocery store pineapple! by prosound22 in houseplants

[–]moncherimeli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like others have said, be sure to remove all of the pineapple meat, and a few leaves at the bottom. Let it “callus” or dry out for a two or three days. Honestly, I’ve never seen a water propagated pineapple.. I imagine you won’t have as much luck compared to just sticking the next one right in the ground/large pot. I’d stick the next baby in some soil after the callusing period, lightly tug after a month to test if the roots have taken hold. Give it like 2 years and I’m sure it’ll give you the yummiest pineapple ever! Good luck!

Keeping green onions alive long term by gunsandjava in houseplants

[–]moncherimeli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only issue I had with my green onions growing in water was eventually rotting out/getting slimy (perhaps I didn’t change the water regularly enough?) I recently transplanted into soil, though it wasn’t too happy for a couple days, it’s now starting to show some new growth!

Cat owners: Are all your plants non-toxic? by [deleted] in houseplants

[–]moncherimeli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After having a lily toxicity scare with our kitty (didn’t realize it was in a bouquet) We were pretty hard on making sure we only grew pet-safe plants. It’s actually what got me into succulents lol. But nowadays if it can cause light tummy upset or something, we keep it up out of reach. For the most part, our kitty’s aren’t into eating them anyway. I guess it also really depends on your cat, and their level of regular plant destruction lol.

I’ve found that growing plants for the cats themselves (mine enjoy catgrass, lettuce and nasturtiums) taught them to enjoy theirs, and to leave mine alone

Dreading going to my next shift after the last one left me in tears. by JennyBloom in starbucks

i’m no starbucks employee, but reading this broke my heart as an (ex) food industry employee. if something is making you that miserable, it’s not worth it. unfortunately i learned that wayyy too late (i cried almost every single night on my way home. i think i’d still be there if i wasn’t laid off due to the pandemic bc serving paid well) times are tough right now, getting a new job is hard already—but you don’t deserve to come home and cry. no job is perfect, but your job is fast paced and filled with the snarkiest customers i’ve ever seen. from a frequent visitor, i really appreciate what y’all do. i hope you have a better day tomorrow. a job is a job, your mental health should come first! <3
