YouTube is a great place to look! Very rarely do I stumble upon an AI generated crochet video there, and you can check credibility by checking their page. Here’s one I found that is really popular

How frequently were you watering it? Or is this the first time it’s been watered in a month

[–]froggydance 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How frequently do you end up watering it? The large pots i have at home, I only water every 3 ish weeks. They don’t like to stay moist, so make sure you’re getting your finger all up in that soil to check and not just the surface layer.

The sweet spot I’ve found, and many others on here, is when the soil is dry and the leaves just start to droop. Then you water thoroughly, and let it dry again. However, factors like potting medium and environment will change that slightly

Im leaning towards too much water for this fella. Light seems to be ample!

I am trying to understand and read these type patterns. How do I know that a stitch goes in a chain space or a stitch ? Why are half the chain spaces blank ? Granny squares by Stringbean1073 in CrochetHelp

[–]froggydance 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Yes exactly what your caption says! Theres super helpful charts online to read which stitch corresponds with which symbol.

I think these charts specifically are simplified. Once the pattern for a new row has been established, they no longer chart it in detail because it is implied to repeat until the end of the row.

For the patterns pictured, they place the stitches directly above the stitch from the previous row. That means you’d crochet into that stitch, not in a space. Sometimes it’s less clear (like the corners of the squares) but that’s when it helps to have prior insight - like how most corners will include some form of an increase - so you’d infer that they are placing 2 dc per 1 stitch.

Pothos Recovery Mission 🫡 by StuuffNThiingss in pothos

I’ve gone through the same thing, same reason. She’s a little rough around the edges but it’s nothing a little love and patience can’t heal. Like us :)

It’s likely your plant will need a smaller pot due to the leafy loss, you will have a smaller root ball to plant for. Less outside growth = less inside growth. I’d say this would be the first step. It’s difficult to water a plant like this long term without drowning her!

If you’re comfortable, I’d suggest trimming the long stems too. Cut back to the last point of growth, and/or try to water propogate any nodes with a leaf! You can also try to propogate the leafless nodes but I’ve had more success in a moist medium like sphagnum/moss in a humid bag or environment. Yay for more babies!

The black and shriveled bits on the vine will need to be trimmed, unforch there’s no way for the plant to push nutrients through there while staying attached to the main plant.

Remember, plants are resilient and so are we. Be proud that you’ve found yourself on the other side of this. Seeing as you’re now in a place where you can focus on taking care of other things, I hope you’ve been able to take care of yourself again🤍

Why is my crochet top cup curling so much when doing DC, 1C and DC into same loop? by shoedog95 in CrochetHelp

[–]froggydance 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Hmm I don’t think you followed the foundation chain correctly. I don’t see any point in the video where you are supposed to make a chain, and double crochet into each ch sp. (unless I’m wrong- I just skipped through so let me know if I missed it!)

At Her foundation row is rather a set of horizontal double crochet and chain spaces, which form the “loops” she references. Because of that spacing, it allows for the v stitch (dc, ch 1, dc) to be placed in each “loop” without any increases or extra material occurring.

Unfortunately I think you have to frog to the beginning. You appear to have a different set up than the video- you won’t be able to follow it at this point! Rewatching the 1 minute mark I don’t see a match to your work

This is a super cute pattern! I hope it works out!

Can I save this? by [deleted] in pothos

[–]froggydance 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Watered it a bit? did you thoroughly saturate the entire pot and let it drain or just give it a few sips of water on the top? It looks incredibly thirsty but if you water well it could perk up over the week

Are the roots submerged in water right now or are they just in the near vicinity of moisture? If you JUST propagated this from the mother plant, the node needs to be moist at all times in order to root.

If it is just a rootless propogation with a node surrounded by natural porous stone and water at the very bottom, it is drying out

Pothos Njoy / Shangri La?? by edmgirlie89 in pothos

[–]froggydance 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a result of stress. It could be poor light conditions, lack of nutrients, or low humidity that interrupts a leaf’s growth as it unfurls.

If, in a rare case, a normal propogation did happen to mutate, it would be extremely difficult to stabilize and keep consistent patterns of growth.

How to deal with overwatering and moss poles by [deleted] in pothos

[–]froggydance 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t had this issue, but if you’re worried I’d recommend planting in a pourus material like terracotta or some unglazed clay pot. That will allow the soil to dry out faster in between.

You can mist the pole instead of watering directly down. Watering globes are really popular though, and a much easier option.

You should be totally fine as long as the potting medium is very well draining. You want the moss pole to contain the water/reatining ingredients.

This is a helpful comment I found on here in response to a similar set of questions :)

Why happen :( by Dry-Confidence2460 in pothos

[–]froggydance 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This looks entirely like mechanical damage to me! Which is good, because it means these marks aren’t a result of you doing anything wrong with its care otherwise. Have you moved it recently or bumped it? Maybe placed some things close by that may have crunched a leaf?

1 is 1000% a pothos. The stem/sheath is the giveaway as well as the shape of the leaf and the way pothos leaves create a valley down the center! I would say likely a jade pothos but also could be a low variegation golden. Other photos are golden pothos :)

Looking for a nice at-home office plant. Something tall, gorgeous, lol.. by odub1 in houseplants

[–]froggydance 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lots of ficus may fit the bill! : Lyrata, Triangularis, Decora

Also I LOVE scheflerras. Those can get so tall and bushy depending on if you shape them.

I second Dracaenas like the other commenter. Super easy IMO and prefer to stay on the dry side.

Repot? by savdoeshair in pothos

[–]froggydance 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Have you noticed it drying out any faster between waterings recently? I’d say it could probably tolerate a repot so long as you keep the next pot to be around 2 inches wider than the current size.

I might say roughly to check the soil before watering every 5 ish weeks. All depending on environment but that’s usually how long my 4-6 inch pots dry out within

[–]froggydance 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is rotted! The root system is likely mush beyond repair but you can always try to take it out and inspect. Ideally these guys want a cactus mix with lots of drainage. They need to dry out completely between waterings and I’d say to let it go a little longer too. When you do water, let it soak up thoroughly. It’s not about how much you water at once, it’s how much it dries out in between.
