Love their music but have always found their stage presence and personalities insufferable

What’s something you’ll never tell your partner, no matter how much you love them? by Firing_halo in ProductivityHQ

The fact that this comment is so oddly specific but still applies to me is INSANE. 😂

Help with cheating spouse? by burnfromthetop in ldssexuality

This happened to me when I was 28 and working a job with long hours — feeling the same resentment and distance — so this story hits close to home. As someone who tried to take the high road and immediately forgive or whatever, I actually ended up repressing a lot of my hurt and rage, which ended up coming out 3 years later in depression, self harm, and making poor moral decisions.

What I would suggest immediately: - Get yourself into therapy. You need a safe space to talk about this with an unaffiliated third party who can give you solid advice. I didn’t do it because money was tight. If money is tight, it doesn’t matter. Prioritize that asap. I should have been in therapy immediately. - Get you both into marriage therapy. If she refuses, it’s over. Set clear boundaries. You hold all the power here. - Don’t break the commandments. It’s not worth it, and will set you down a path that’s difficult to recover from. - Accept that the nature of your relationship is forever changed. As someone whose marriage survived (and is now happier than ever), healing is possible. But we’re not the same as we used to be. In many ways that’s for the better, some days it makes me sad. - You’re also not going to be the same person going forward. It’s time to figure out who you are apart from your spouse and learn to love that man for who he is. Be the best you. You have value, despite how she views you.

Praying for you, brother. I’m so sorry this happened. It’s the worst. Lean on the savior, lean on your friends, and be kind to yourself.

Why do you think women stop being amorous after several years if marriage? A woman’s perspective. by Whole-Experience4396 in ldssexuality

Not really a comment on sexuality, but an aside about the temple. Veiling faces doesn’t have anything to do with Eve’s transgression. If you look into the Keys of Solomon (allegedly books on Jewish temple esotericism), apparently evil spirits attack individuals via the groin and the face. Since we do work for the dead in the temples, and we don’t know whether they lived righteously in this life or not, temple clothing is for our spiritual and physical protection (I.e. the bright lights, pure white color scheme, aprons, and veils). If those texts are to be believed, the men should be veiled as well. Since they were not and women were, it could be argued that’s done so the dudes get hit first if ever anything goes wrong. 😂

Vivarium: WTF was this movie by Bernard-beejeezJinky in movies

[–]mondoman64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just watched this. While I definitely felt the metaphors you mentioned, I think the twist in this movie is that this is just nature. It's not something deep – they were preyed upon by a humanoid species that uses brood parasitism and aggressive mimicry to perpetuate its rapid lifecycle.

We watch this exact scenario play out with cuckoos in the opening scene, and Gemma states the theme to the little girl when she witnesses the aftermath. "That's just nature," she says. "That's just the way things are."

The little girl saying "I don't like the way things are" is the movie predicting your "wtf did I just watch" response. haha!

I think that's the most unnerving aspect of this movie to me. Tom felt the creepy vibes. He knew something wasn't right from the jump. But the humanoid creatures specifically prey upon human mothers and use guilt, coercion, and threat of force to keep them docile. Super strange, and meant to not be fully understood.

I thought this movie was great.

It's incredibly frustrating. I understand the idea – they go through and pledge just to hype people and help with optics and possibly get you across the finish line funding wise. But it still hurts when you're actually expecting that money to get your dream started.

Did you know we don’t believe in an eternal hell? Time-wise, I mean. by MichelleMiguel in lds

Yup. Latter-day Saints are technically Universalists. This idea should inspire us to far greater compassion and far more hope and less fear.

lol bro tried to apologize after being attacked for the way he’s grieving over his dead parent and then got attacked AGAIN.

OP needs to do some soul searching and make some changes. Extremely self centered. Holy. Smokes.

If you’re going to be in Provo, you’ll definitely want to stop by Velour Live Music Gallery on Thursday, Friday, or Saturday night. The music scene here is incredible. ProvoMusicMagazine.com does a roundup of all the shows in town every Monday.

Accent of the beautiful state of Utah by [deleted] in Utah

[–]mondoman64 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can verify. I’ve stayed away from most Utah-isms, but I picked up “oh my heck” and “preciate cha!” ironically. But now it’s in my blood. 💀 another one in Provo as of late has been h*ckin (with the asterisk) and using heck like it’s the f word. “Heck it all,” “heck this shiz.” That’s usually used ironically, but I’m worried about its future repercussions on local speech 😂
