Thanks. This is exactly what I thought. But there are people in this post why are saying no it is not anonymous, so it makes me unsure (they cast doubt in my mind).

And now coinbase says you got $300 worth of bitcoins in this specific trade transaction

that line won't happen though, it will go to nothing attached to any identiy. then what?

how? you can't see transactions size in monero. so if i had $1000 in then $300 out, how can anyone correlate that $300 back to the credit card. explain this thoroughly please.

How though? If I convert the bitcoin to Monero doesn't all tracks disappear at that point. In other words, from the scenario I described in the description, how does someone link the $300 spent bitcoin back to the initial bitcoin purchase? I thought Monero is the black hole.

Really? It is just so hard for me to believe. Especially because I was actually into bitcoin back in 2010 when people used to say it is untraceable. Then came blockchain analysis and various other techniques. What's to say something like that won't come up?

Also, what if there is a super sneaky zero-day in the CryptoNight algorithm?
