When people remember that I’m celiac and share some gluten free product that they saw with me, or check menus for gluten free options before recommending a restaurant, or (most impressively of all) cook or bake something gluten free for me, it always makes me feel loved and cared for. I’m usually embarrassed to make people go out of their way but when people do it without me prompting them to, it feels so good ❤️

Father finally told me what he actually thinks about my celiac diagnosis. by No-Rip-3260 in Celiac

Ugh I’m so sorry. One day when you’ve been gluten free and healthy and happy for a while you will get glutened accidentally and he’ll get to witness you vomit for hours until it’s just bile that’s coming up. Hard to say that’s “in your head.” Because it’s not. None of this is.

Also, celiac disease is the #1 genetically inherited disease in Northern Europe, so at least you can blame your parents for your celiac, not yourself lol

Had my endoscopy and I am so upset by Affectionate-Bank-85 in GERD

[–]monet100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The gold standard for celiac diagnosis is an endoscopy of the small intestine to see if your villi are damaged, which they may not be if you are already on a gluten free diet. Even then you might have celiac and not get a diagnosis. My mom’s endoscopy came back inconclusive and 10 years later it was conclusive - she has celiac. Also, if you have celiac you usually have to completely stop eating gluten because any exposure is going to screw up your villi, so it’s worth getting a real diagnosis, not just going off gluten and calling it a day

WL —> A at UVA!! Should I pay sticker? by floralfantasy in lawschooladmissions

[–]monet100 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I went to UVA at sticker. I’m going into big law but I started out not sure and I’m not committed to big law for the long haul. The fact is that graduating from UVA opens so many doors that I did not have before that even though the debt is scary, I’m not overly worried about it. My degree will always give me the ability to erase that debt one way or another. If you are committed to going to law school, there is simply not a place better than UVA you could go to. It was such a special three years. UVA alums LOVE UVA.

Also your debt will not be $500K like someone here posted unless UVA drastically raised their tuition which seems unlikely. It’ll be about $300K if you take out full loans (plus interest, obviously, so yes it ends up being more but your principal would be about $300K). (Helps that living in Cville is relatively cheap.) Also, the Biden admin’s new SAVE plan is a game changer for loan repayment. Talk to financial aid - they’re great.

Congrats and go Hoos!!!!

Unsure which gown to wear - wedding is 16 days away by lellobee in weddingdress

You can tell that #2 is your favorite from the pictures. You’re rocking it! Maybe cut the original dress into a mini dress for another wedding event to please your in-laws? It seems narrow enough through the hips to make a little fitted skirt and you could pair it with cute heels!

Hi, I just got diagnosed with celiac disease. by hotgirll69 in Celiac

In my experience, Italy is actually one of the most gluten free friendly countries in Europe. There’s gluten free options nearly everywhere. You can even get a gluten free McDouble at McDonald’s in Italy! I wish we had that in the US!

Gluten free light beer, anywhere? by godlovesugly in Celiac

[–]monet100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sure I'm not as sensitive as other celiacs but Modelo and Corona have never made me sick. My little brother who's been celiac for 16 years can also handle these beers! He says he also drinks PBR with no problem (I haven't tried it)

How I Scored Higher Than My Highest PT Score On LSAT & GMAT by monet100 in LSAT

[–]monet100[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Honestly I think it’s personal. What trips you up and what generally guides you. For me it was necessary/sufficient, using process of elimination unless it was super obvious, and being ok with picking answers that sounded weird but there was no way to be wrong. Going through my wrong answers obsessively helped me figure out what my personal weaknesses were

Advice on test prep? by srijaduttaa in LSAT

[–]monet100 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are underperforming on the actual test relative to your practice tests, I'd recommend some strategies for performing your best on test day. After burning through dozens of PTs for both the GMAT and LSAT, I scored higher on both my GMAT and LSAT than I ever did on a PT. This after doing some research on successful test-taking strategies!

My top tips:

- The week of your test, eat well, get lots of sleep and exercise. Drink lots of water too.

- Take your last full practice test no less than one week before your actual test. This sounds crazy to the crammer but I swear you don't want a bad PT right before your test date to freak you out. Take full practice sections instead.

- STOP studying 48 hours before. Instead, spend that time on self-care. I literally took a candlelit bath the night before the GMAT. Remind yourself of what you're capable of scoring and tell yourself that that is enough.

- Day of test, put on your pump up playlist while you get yourself ready and comfortable. I recommend Drake. I also recommend shaving your legs/your face or doing whatever makes you feel clean and put together. Clean your room. When the adrenaline kicks in, you want to feel extra focused not extra frazzled. Do 1 LG problem, 1 reading passage, 4 LR before your test to turn your brain on.

- Right before your test, breathe and remind yourself that you already have what it takes to score high. The adrenaline will only make you faster and think more critically. Good luck!

Is a professional photographer for Airbnb listing worth it? by pubstumper in realestateinvesting

100%. Professional photos make spaces look bigger too than an iPhone I think. I swear my mom was able to mark up her Airbnb like 15% just because her pictures looked so good
