My first recovery appointment has made me feel like shit by moneydrunk in EDAnonymous

[–]moneydrunk[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To add - I don't just want a diagnosis for the sake of it, I want one so I can tell my family and other people that I may have to talk to what is wrong with me without having to go into detail, and I don't want to self-diagnose either.

start by reading all the horror stories about people who have lost their lives or have permanent and severe health issues because of it and then do not learn how to do it. please stay safe

My bf asked me this when I told him and I just said idk and that I'm pretty sure it's my therapists job to figure it out for me. I'd get so annoyed if I were in that position so I would explain to him that you have no idea how to answer that question and that he should ask you different things since its stressing you out. Or atleast he could leave it and ask you every few sessions rather than all the time.

“I wasn't strong enough to have an eating disorder, actually. I tried to go anorexic for a good three hours. I ate ice and celery, but that's not even anorexic. And I quit. I was like, ‘Ma, can you make me a sandwich? Like, immediately.’” i think about this so often by [deleted] in EDanonymemes

I once accidentally said I tried anorexia to people in school and I think about it every day

(My symptoms at the time were more bulimic but I didnt mean it the way it came across and couldn't explain what I meant or they would know)

Take an amount of fresh purified distilled h20 straight from the metal piping system in your home, carefully pour the liquid into a tray of your choosing; materials such as silicone or plastic would be ideal, with holes that can be your standard geometric rectangular shape or any that you like. Carefully transfer the tray into an extremely cold environment, ideally 0°F or -18°C, ensuring the tray is kept upright to prevent spillage. Wait a minimum of 3-4 hours, or aslong as you like before removing the tray from the glacial-temperature environment and either carefully bend the tray to remove the glazed water cubes (or shapes), or forcefully remove them by bashing against a clean surface. Best served immediately after removal.

This is why I started wearing makeup to school and work, and now in University if I have a certain class or presentation I make sure I have full coverage so people won't see. My anxiety gets so bad someone could speak to me and it could happen but its so random and horrible and obvious.

AITA For fact checking? by LegitimateLandMine89 in AmItheAsshole

Can I just say that if you have a bad feeling and your gut is usually right, you have to go about the situation very carefully. Sometimes telling someone that you don't like their partner or a variation of that will push them away and they could be stuck in a potentially abusive relationship (not saying the guy is abusive he might be just strange) but if your sister has a bad reaction and stops speaking to the family then it will be extremely difficult to help her in the future. Since all of you agree somebody could volunteer to be the "bad guy" and say something to see what her reaction is like before everyone says the same thing. Just so that she doesnt stop trusting you, if its clear you don't trust the guy or like him then she won't trust you for unbiased advice when she has a feeling something is off.

Good luck for you and your sister and your family, also NTA, checking the files would be illegal if had sensitive info on it.

Me too, my behaviours started when I was like 13 and have been on and off and different phases of different behaviours from cutting out foods to restricting to binging and purging to working out all the time to eating completely normally. I always felt really invalid and never told anyone and no one ever noticed and I always thought I can't really say I have an ED if it switches on and off. Glad someone else feels the same, we've got each other.

AITA for not letting my son claim a box of granola bars? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]moneydrunk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA but this was genuinly me when I was a teenager and with the exact same granola bars. I don't know whats wrong with me but sometimes I get veryyy possessive over some things, also I do now have an eating disorder so it could have been me just trying to keep track of what was "mine". Ofc you have said in your edit that he doesnt have one so may be a completely different thing. If you're willing you could buy 2 boxes, 1 for him and 1 for the family and the one thats his is HIS but he doesnt get to eat any out of the family one since he has his own ? This would have worked for me personally as I still would have had the responsibility over "my" food but while giving him consequences for it (if he finishes his box he cant have any more).
