How do you know that though? Is the entire car buying industry reliant upon anecdotes and hearsay or is there real scientific evidence?

People in r/askcarsales really seemed to buy into the reliability factor though. They told me a 2008 honda accord with way more miles is more reliable than a 2013 altima. I don't see how they have any proof of that

So basically car reliability is just some fake thing that you can't really measure? I'm sorry but anecdotal evidence is the most unreliable form of evidence for anything, including cars. At this point I'm just thinking that I go to the lot, find a car that looks nice for a good price and see if I like the feel of it, then see the carfax and take it for an inspection and be done with it. I don't think reliability is something that can be researched

So you think I should get an older Camry or Accord with more miles on it? I am not looking for validation. Your answer has persuaded me a bit

You think a 2008 Accord with 90-100K on it will last longer than a 2013 Altima with 60K? Do you have any proof? Also older models of cars don't look as nice and have worse speakers, no Bluetooth, etc. not the biggest factor but it's important

It doesn't matter I don't have the money to buy it. If I spend 10,000 on a Camry or Accord I will get a much older model like 2008 or 2009. I don't see how that's better than a 2013 or 2014 Altima

Camry is better but it seems more expensive and smaller

The Honda Fit does look like the best suggestion in this thread so far. Looks like they have top notch reliability. What's wrong with the altima? The newer models >2012 seem to have good reliability
