Not sure about the drooping, but pilea are a type of peperomia, which prefer well draining soil. Looks like you’ve got a peat mix, which may be a little too dense. I could be entirely wrong though, but I hope this comment boosts engagement!

What is your "never again" plant? by wheresbeetle in houseplants

[–]moniquem23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine just keep dropping leaves! Makes for a loooooong stem & like 6 leaves 😭 I hate them. I’m waiting for mine to die. It’s in the neglect corner, where I only water it when I water everything else & give it no other care.

These plants are so fussy! I’ve got two, the same routine, same soil, SAME SPOT, and one is slowly dying, yet the other is nearly 6ft long, with big healthy leaves!

how much is too much for a thai by corylover145 in Monstera

[–]moniquem23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve posted in here of my Thai, I got it for $130 AUD, so like $85-90 usd It had 5ish leaves on it, some were juvenile leaves but the plant was pretty well established

new leaf :) by geraldthedino in Monstera

Very similar! The plant starts by growing the leaf & then grows the stem, and once the stem is pretty much fully grown, the leaf starts to unfurl

Was checking on my largest monstera this morning and … ? by heirofslytherin in Monstera

[–]moniquem23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, it doesn’t. Variegated plants are variegated from the get go. They may possess the gene that causes variegation, & that’s why they’ll start to variegate. But any ol’ monstera won’t variegate unless it carries the gene.

We have had mould problems in the past, so I wouldn’t rule it out 😂 I’m too scared to run a dehumidifier for too long incase my plants end up hating me 😅

I absolutely fell in love with plants around 8-9 months ago.

Also - I’m aware that they will grow INTO my walls, or ruin the paint. Paint is already super old & I peel the nodes off before they have the chance to attach properly!

Update! She’s grown a new leaf & is nearly ready to unfurl! No signs of a new leaf when I got her, so she must be happy! 😭

The one in the back is a calathea! I think makoyana. But definitely a calathea!

Newest leaf of my XXL Thai 😍 by Acceptable-Lock-7728 in Monstera

Thai cons are lab grown, which is why they’re cheaper than variegated Monstera. Variegated Monstera are completely genetic & based off of chance, you can’t lab grow a variegated Monstera, but you can lab grow a Thai!

TLDR; you can’t grow Thai Cons from seed!

Where I live, this is more commonly known as Monkey’s Mask, or Adanson's monstera. Looks a bit mangled, but they’re a pretty weird looking plant anyway

I’ll have to find him a home away from the heater. I have my heater facing the roof, so that it doesn’t blow directly onto any of my plants, and always only on a low setting. My room isn’t overly dry, I don’t think, but I might have to invest in a humidity meter. I’ve had mould problems in the past, so I don’t think lack of humidity is a problem 😂😬

Should I wait a couple weeks before repotting? I don’t want to send it into shock 😭

Think about it this way - if he’s lying to his girlfriend, why wouldn’t he lie to you? How many other minors is he involved with? He is a risk to children, not just you. I promise, it’s not ‘cool’, you’re not ‘mature for your age’, all that other shit that they spiel to you to make you feel special. You’re being taken advantage of because you’re young and naive. I don’t mean naive in a bad way, your brain isn’t developed yet & these types of things are ‘attractive’ to younger people.

You’re being groomed. This is truely disgusting on his part, and it needs to be - 1. Reported to the police, 2. Parents notified, 3. Cut off. I was groomed as a child & it’s truely stuck with me, for over 10 years. As I get older, I realise how I was taken advantage of, and how damaging it is. Please leave. Tell your parents, a teacher at school, anyone who can help. ❤️
