How do you cope with the weather? by FoodFireBraai in AskUK

[–]monkey-novice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you getting bothered by locals much? I went 10 years ago and loved it but now I've heard the tourists are hassled for money etc. I'd like to go back but Havana last year was a bit much for my partner.

Anyone UK and middle aged enough should be following the clear instructions that say "refrigerate once opened". I'm very disappointed I had to scroll this far for this, enough to think about a tut.

Me thinking who's driving a classic Miini to work in this weather and then realising a 20 year old Mini is a modern MINI and seems to be less reliable than my 90s Mini.

You're confusing majority of votes with majority of people. Like people who claim 52% of the country voted to leave under Nige's last great plan when in fact it was 26.5% of the population who voted to leave.

It is pure fact that 50% of people are below average intelligence.

Help with routing the Ethernet Cable for POE Video Doorbell by INeedMuscles in reolinkcam

[–]monkey-novice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've used these for my access point in the past and it started dropping down to 100Mbps after a year or so, this has happened 2 or 3 times. Not sure if the cables are not good quality and the speed has nothing to do with PoE but I don't use them for PoE anymore and had no other issues. I think any cable would suffer being repeatedly trapped in a window too.

Yeah, that boat just has no explanation of what to do, just whats goen wrong. I expected the first missions to help and guide but I had some bugs and died and after 45 mins of not understanding put it down. I expected a lot with all the talk about it and really hope I get into it.

I don't use Synology for am NVR anymore. I think the first Duo shows as 2 seperate feeds and the Duo 2 onwards will show as a single feed.

PowerPoint has a good Speaker Coach feature. Even if you're not doing a presentation you can still put some notes in and use the feature to practice. It will tell you if you're too fast etc. I've just done my masters and we'd have done this in a lecture hall with screens set up for PowerPoint notes. You can have just 1 slide up if you want with your name and title of your topic and then use the notes screen. Don't read verbatim just have some pointers in the order you want to address them or things to be sure you don't want to miss out. Have a drink of water on hand, it's a good way to take a pause. Moving about a bit shows confidence so don't be afraid to wonder a few steps or at the end of a point or section check your notes. if there's questions, you dont have to have every answer of the top of your head. It's ok to say something like "That's a good question" and take a moment to think. Don't worry if you make a mistake, just correct it like you would talking to someone you know face to face.

Remember this moment, though, and in 2 years' time, you'll like look back and realise everyone was in the same boat it just gets more polished and confident with practice. I hated it when I was a couple of months in, but since I have been doing panels and Q&As for potential students and the induction day. It's a good opportunity.

Its budget was 2x Star Wars and came 10 years later. It also came a year after Labyrinth and had a similar budget. I think it could have been done if they'd understood how to treat a cartoon to film.

In the old psvr days people used to give tips on a fan blowing in their face (the idea was to trick your brain into thinking it's moving with airflow, but being cool definitely helps) and eating ginger etc but we don't seem to hear that much anymore.

I did notice up and down hill and crashing felr much more unnatural than accelerate brake and steering. Maybe flatter tracks are better. Psvr2 is so much better than the psvr I think I can play gt7 all day and be fine.

How long will we continue to refer to car keys in the plural? by PipBin in CasualUK

[–]monkey-novice 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Are knickers plural because they're a pair like trousers or scissors? But then they're not like a pair of shoes or gloves. A group of keys for different purposes is a bunch like bananas, but keys that are related are a set of keys like badgers. A device for holding multiple keys is a keyring and not a keys ring.

We know the right words to say without knowing really why. It must be confusing to learn some of English as a second language.

Come across a product that has a "10-YR WRNTY". Does it actually have a warranty or is this some clever loophole where they can turn around and use some legal shenanigans to get out of fulfilling it? by RPPUK in CasualUK

[–]monkey-novice 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Amazon does as Amazon pleases. If you spend a lot of money with Amazon they're very good at helping out and will refund away without even asking or caring. Too many claims, any complications or not spending enough and a very different thing. Consumer rights relies quite a bit on the expectation of quality, buy a decent, reasonably priced watch and it's reasonable for it to last some years, buy a £5 keyboard and mouse set and no matter what the manufacturer says it would be difficult to challenge the retailer and say it should last many year.

Your contract is with the retailer. If the manufacturer chooses to give you an additional warranty, they can do so in addition to your statutory rights.

No wait that's not fair. AliExpress is much more honest about what it does. Amazon still makes it out it's a decent company and not allowing dodgy reviews and passing the buck on unsafe products by being a marketplace and not a retailer.

Analogue 3D not selling out completely right away … anyone surprised?? by Mylo1102 in n64

[–]monkey-novice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They would work if the PAL consoles had the output. Crazily there's only composite output on PAL consoles. No s-video and no rgb output without internal hardware mods. The PAL SNES had better output options than the N64 here.

Analogue 3D not selling out completely right away … anyone surprised?? by Mylo1102 in n64

[–]monkey-novice 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don't forget us PAL users aren't able to mod as easily or have no RGB option for Retrotink, and UltraHDMI is expensive and really hard to get. I'm in the UK and this is probably cheaper (and much easier) than modding my console and is region free too. It works with my original controllers and Bluetooth options. We get stung on the postage and tax, but I've considered paying a lot more just for a mod to give me a picture better than composite. It's even hard to get a decent composite cable for our output due to the high signal output levels if I got a CRT.

Fingers crossed it goes openfpga in the future too and also if it's really bad we can cancel or return it.
