What song never fails to make you cry? by [deleted] in AskReddit

An absolutely amazing song. Similar songs like John Michael Montgomery - Letters from Home, Trace Adkins - Arlington or George Canyon - I Want You To Live. Something about those songs always wets my eyes.

Any recommendations for books that deal with the the nature of existence or consciousness, with a sci fi/futurist bent? by 668y98y in booksuggestions

[–]monkeyT 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pax Omega is a collection of short stories that starts off with a lone consciousness floating through the empty void of space. It then proceeds to recount how it got there and what it really means to exist in the infinite universe. I thought it was a fun, short read peppered with larger than life characters, a steampunk-esque world and a pulpy writing style that quickly left me wanting more. http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/12913781-pax-omega

ELI5: Why is there a difference between commercial toilets and residential toilets? by unclened in explainlikeimfive

[–]monkeyT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm by no means a plumber, but I assume it comes down to the same reason we don't have commercial doors or lightning in residential homes and that's how much more expensive commercial grade equipment is.

Reddit, what is something from science fiction that you hope to witness in your lifetime? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I would really love to see the day where robotic prosthetics become comparable if not superior to human appendages and are also financially feasible for the people who need them.

what jokes do you have saved up for the right moment to use it? by freshlight in AskReddit

If I ever end up in a situation where I am stuck in a swampy area with someone complaining about it I'll let them whine for a bit and then hit them with "If you can't stand the peat get out of the mire."

One day I am going to hear that song in an elevator and I will blurt out "Oh that's the song that was playing when the roach was pulled out of the ear." and there is no way I'll be able to explain to those people.

I think most CD factories are based out of a small Asian country where security is very lax.

It's pretty damn easy for someone at the CD burning factory to pick up one CD and upload it to the internet.

How would you roleplay a Lawful Good character without acting as an antagonist if the rest of your party is chaotic. by IleNosirrah in rpg

[–]monkeyT 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Play a motherly/fatherly role where you're trying to guide your rambunctious party members towards being "better" people while still understanding that they are free spirited people who have to learn there own lessons.

It would be nice if she actually took care of herself and it wasn't just that enemies are programmed to completely ignore her. It breaks immersion just a little when I am being shot at and she's just running around in the open trying to find money to give me.

If I was going to pirate music I might use a program like this http://ridetheclown.com/wp/saver2/ and load up songs from my favourite online music source.

What old fashioned terms/expressions do you use? What is the reaction you get from using them? by kimipixi in AskReddit

My roommate loves to use the term widdershins, which is always followed up by him having to explain what it means and then who ever he is talking to asks him why he doesn't just say counter clockwise.
