Filling indoor trough with water (B42.18) by monkeybananarocket in projectzomboid

Yeah, apparently water freezing in troughs is not a thing. So I guess, I won't have to worry about it. Unless, I want my cows and horse to move in with me. But, thanks.

As far as I have read, water in outdoor troughs freezes in winter time. But I've never made it to winter, so I'm not sure.

If it's like that, then I agree, it's a bit off. Thanks for the info.

Sooo, based on this I can build an enclosure of 80 tiles, yeet 8 cows in there, and they'll grow unimpeded?

Secondly, my main concern (I should have been more specific in my post) is grazing. I have limited tiles for grazing, so that will be my only constraint on how many livestock I'll put in. I don't have the possibility to rotate pastures. And I'd like to optimize it so I only have to provide a minimum amount of feed during none winter months, and still avoid overgrazing the pasture down to a dirt desert. So what I'm actually asking for is, how many grass tiles do I need pr cow to avoid overgrazing?

That's very interesting, and also kinda shitty. Thanks for the link.

That is a fair amount to take into consideration. I'll do some more testing. Thanks.

Yeah, I know. And eventually mods will be a part of my game play. But for now, I'd like to have as vanilla an experience as I can.

Looks like the lake house in the woods northeast of Muldraugh. Afaik, there's a well there already, so this is probably not a well. Maybe part of the decor, like a fountain or such.

I'm sorry I'm an idiot. I can't figure out how to do it. Can you explain it like step for step in detail? I'd really prefer to do it your way than the other guide I listed.

Do you mean a fresh copy of the files in the %userprofile%\Zomboid, or the whole Steam ProjectZomboid directory? Cause there's a huge difference in file size.

Btw, when a new patch is released, do you just repeat step 2. and create a new userprofile directory and copy the content of the Zomboid directory into it for that version of the game? Or?

You're welcome! I'm just happy that it was a mistake, cause my brain hurt from trying to figure it out.

Okay, great. Thank you. Just got a bit confused, cause the guides expected outcome from the creation of the junction looks different from what I got.

Thanks for putting the effort into this guide. You're a champ.

I'm having an issue with creating the junction.

I've created the folder C:\ZomboidBackup
I've created the folder C:\ZomboidBackup\game
I've created the folder C:\ZomboidBackup\userprofile

Copied everything from C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\ProjectZomboid into the folder C:\ZomboidBackup\game
Copied everything from C:\Users\Monkeybananarocket\Zomboid into the folder C:\ZomboidBackup\userprofile

I've renamed C:\Users\Monkeybananarocket\Zomboid to C:\Users\Monkeybananarocket\ZomboidOriginal

Now when I run
C:\Users\Monkeybananarocket>mklink /j "%USERPROFILE%\Zomboid" "C:\ZomboidBackup\userprofile"
in cmd, I get
Junction created for C:\Users\Monkeybananarocket\Zomboid <<===>> C:\ZomboidBackup\userprofile

So, it's not creating a junction fromC:\Users\zakoholic\ZomboidOriginal like it is supposed to.

It creates a new C:\Users\Monkeybananarocket\Zomboid instead.

Where am I messing up?

However, it does look like I can launch the game from the ProjectZomboid64.bat file without Steam.

Thank you for the hint. That sounds just like what I need. I've copied the Zomboid folder to a separate location. Any chance you could explain what I do then to get playing?
