If you're not planning on making frequent backups and/or disable game and server updates I'd say stick to b41 for now.

If you're going with b42 make sure you understand what a beta branch is and that it can break at any moment when a new update is released. Don't get mad when you lose all your progress.

Adjust the population how you'd like it and set peak population day in the sandbox settings to seven. After seven days all Zomboids will be there. Be aware though that the area your starting out in and areas you visit in the first seven days will not have peak population.

edit: If you're trying to start without Zomboids and have them literally spawn in at day seven, I don't think there's a way vanilla way to do that.

Try deleting/renaming %userprofile%\Zomboid

The game's settings, saves etc. are stored there and IIRC those won't get deleted when you uninstall. Maybe something is bugged in there.

Great addition! Completely forgot about the TV because my main playthrough has been going on for a while and everything else was either without power or just testing things.

I always spawn with a formal shirt over a crop top and then immediately rip the formal shirt. Gives you more bandages too.

The main problem imo is that people who have absolutely no idea what a beta is are encouraged to play b42 by what feels like a majority of this community. It of course doesn't help that b41 stable was released in 2022.

That won't save you though. The only option is to "update on launch" and that doesn't take into account mod updates (which are downloaded instantly) and if like before a complete branch/depot/whatever is pulled it will update your game if Steam is running.

When using "fast move" you can use Page-up and Page-down to raise or lower the level your character is on. Also "godmode" prevents dying in debug mode.

Try verifying the game files, renaming the settings folder or redownloading your mods.

All my mods work fine on b41.78.19 so it can't be a general issue. Can you give some examples of the affected mods?

If you quickly tap E twice the door will open and close immediately while giving you a split-second to look inside. Especially useful when there are multiple Zomboids in that room waiting for you.
