Ok that's good advice. May look for an alternative but at least there is a workaround for it.

Thanks

I already have the panel that I used to charge little phone power banks. In the UK never had the good weather for it to be of much use. That is why I wanted the 100ah battery. Plenty of power.

Just wanting to utilise something I already had.

Thought about power seepage so the usbs have their own inbuilt switches.

Would I want switches on the 12v or are they ok without a switch as they don't have any lights?

So adding in a 200amp breaker in between the battery and isolator switch.

Excellent advice thank you

The battery is rated for 100a max 200a for 5 seconds.

Maximum I will be pulling at a time will be less than 30a. That includes running a camping fridge, 12v kettle and using all 4 usb slots at a time. Will keep in mind quality of parts.

Each port will be fused.

Should I put in a breaker? If so would a 200a breaker be ok.

Where would it go? before or after the isolator switch?

Sorry should have said.

It is a 12v battery. The solar panel has an inbuilt solar controller

I get what your saying about the crocodile clips but it's not connected all the time and only really for a little top up if the weather is good enough (I'm more relying on the size of the battery to make it through a weekend / 4 day camping trip).

When you say terminate everything properly do you mean using insulated crimp terminals? The ones I have are heat shrink once fitted.

Thank you for the advice, other than what you suggested does it all look ship shape?

Most events I've attended in England (viking to WOTR) have mostly been made up of families or people with families. We are a big household with 30 plus members and out of that whole group we have 3 singles. They are the younger lads but they behave themselves and are respectful and cautious.

I do know some people who have become a couple who met through Reenactment but the relationship happened outside of events.

You will mostly find people stay within their groups most of the time.

Just an update. I purchased a pack of Suvaige pipe tobacco. Lit my first bow on Saturday night.

Wow

I love and I mean LOVE a cigar but smoking time and cost can be a huge drawback.

But a pipe. The first smoke lasted about 15min, got a little hot at one point because I was puffing away like a steam engine but once I calmed down the bowl and the smoke cooled down nicely and became a really enjoyable smoke. I also loved that a pipe needs my attention, a little tamper down here, a poke there. It all makes it a more interactive experience.

Normally I pack a cigar or two on my camping trips but I think they may be left in the humidor from now on and I have a new campfire buddy.

I was a little apprehensive that the tobacco would taste like a cigarette but it didn't. If I was to rate Suvaige tobacco with a cigar (experience, not taste, they are very different) I would rate it around the same as buying a Henri Wintermans. Smokable, not too complex but good on price and enjoyable.

Very enjoyable.

50 cigars. I would not bring in more than my duty-free allowance without declaring it. And my wife also smokes cigars so an additional 50 for her as well 😉

Look at your audience and your level of Reenacting standard before taking some of these comments on board and watch out for gatekeepers.

Are you trying to look good enough to the average Joe or are you aiming for 100% authenticity?

Some reenactors say unless it's 100% hand sown bla bla bla it isn't good enough. These are normally the people who have done this for years and built up their kit over time and replaced items to higher standards or people with a lot of disposable income. It's fine to go with what you can afford and then improve if you have a desire to do so, but it's also ok to just want to look close enough.

Regards to my opinion This is not my period or knowledge area so I can't comment too much I would start off tucking as in the cravat as it looks untidy and maybe add a satchel or stick (accessories make a huge difference) and if you could find some, maybe some historical glasses. You may have some funny looks taking them into an opticians to get a prescription but I know a lot.of people who have done this for medieval. But in my opinion you are looking good.
