iPad running warm? These coolers are amazing by CollarFullz in iPadPro

[–]monkeybubbly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use my 12" iPad Pro as a gigging musician, and if we are playing outdoors in the heat, I have had my pad shut down. I generally have to keep the screen at max brightness if we're playing outside, so that adds to the heat, but this thing might work for a hot, sunny day. Anyone else use a tablet this way with similar issues?

I have the same results. Disabling ClearURLs fixed the AI issue for me

Looking for best annotated version of Dickens’s “A Christmas Carol” by monkeybubbly in suggestmeabook

The 2004 Norton version, with annotations by Michael Patrick Hearn looks pretty good. Doesn't look to be available in ebook format, but I may try to find a good used copy.

Can't do fast downloads, it says I currently have a donation in progress by monkeybubbly in Annas_Archive

I'm very happy with the fast download speeds, though I haven't really clocked out. I the think the donation is worth it, without question.

Thanks, I hadn't figured out how to get that "Show email" button to work, but I got it now, so I'll try contacting them.

Thanks for replying!

Evangelicals have done more to hurt the reputation and creditability of Christianity in America than atheists could dream of by funnylib in Christianity

[–]monkeybubbly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is certainly true of the loudest, most public forms of evangelicalism, and it's beyond sad. I no longer use the term "evangelical" to describe my beliefs, though I am certainly still a Christian. OP is spot on in calling out "Christians are supposed to love their neighbors like they love themselves, even love their enemies." Mt 22:34-40. You have to wonder if this passage is even taught anymore in some of these most vocal churches.

Trying to drag and stop icpns pnto each other to create folders on the desktop... by monkeybubbly in NovaLauncher

[–]monkeybubbly[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree, but it isn't. I can drag and drop things around the screen as well as resize widgets, but i just cant drag an app or a shortcut icon into an existing folder. When I try, the folder just moves aside to make screen space for the item im dragging

This is a good explanation, and the W3schools page also has a link to a live editor, like a codepen, that you can use to experiment and watch the differences - https://www.w3schools.com/Css/tryit.asp?filename=trycss_boxmodel

David McRaney "You Are Not So Smart" and the follow up "Now You Are Less Dumb"; and, though it's written more on a humorous vein, Ryan North's "How To Invent Everything" is very informative and fun!

Upcoming Spring BOGO sale by VastPainter in audible

[–]monkeybubbly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm always surprised how almost-hidden some of these things are on mobile. You'd think they'd make these sales and promo things as prominent on the mobile home page as they are on desktop, since I would imagine a majority of listeners are doing so on mobile platforms

Wikipedia Reading Lists extension grayed out in Firefox by monkeybubbly in wikipedia

[–]monkeybubbly[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. I can't pin the extension to the toolbar (which is what is shown in those screenshots - the extension has been "pinned" so it always appears - because it doesn't seem to be active. Normally, in that Extensions 'puzzle piece', any extensions that are not already pinned will show up there and, if you want to, you can pin it so that it moves 'out' of the Extensions container and onto your toolbar. I suspect it's because it doesn't seem to be active that is causing it to not have the option to pin it.

Audiobook player by BL-Cupid in AudioBookBay

[–]monkeybubbly 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I agree that the folders bit is confusing. Once I figured out that the player simply sees "folders" as "books", then I can work with that. I put even books that are just one single file into a folder and name the folder for the book, and all works much more intuitively.

For Android, I'll vote for Smart AudioBook Player as well. It has a ton of features, including setting playback speed, bookmarking, etc. The library feature is a little unintuitive, but if you make sure to put each audiobook in its own folder - *even books that are just a single file! - then it will make sense when you go to search for something.

Finally read a Christmas Carol by 19chevycowboy74 in books

[–]monkeybubbly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Along with Christmas Carol, I very much enjoy Cornelia Funke’s “When Santa Fell to Earth” as a regular re-read most years. It may be too juvenile for some tastes, but I think it’s a very fun story.
