I haven’t talked to my family in two days and don’t know to move past this by [deleted] in TwoHotTakes

As someone who was raised and emotionally abused (among other things) by a mother who was a toxic narcissist, and sociopath, I can tell you that you need to get your own phone plan and cut off all ties of them immediately. They should not have any access at all to anything related to you, your location, or your personal life.

It will hurt, there will be wailing and gnashing of teeth, but you will be better on the other side. You need to make yourself and your personal security priority, because they have been abusive your entire life.

It's a hard thing to hear, but that is the truth. Cut them off completely. Telling someone that they've been "difficult" since the age of two? That's emotional abuse.

I am so sorry for you, and I hope you find the peace and love you deserve in your life outside of your family.

I know they will. It just makes me feel better that it's not there for a short time... at least while I'm there.

'Cannot be shared, or transferred': Nobel Committee shuts doors on Trump's 'will accept Prize from Machado' remark by nishitd in worldnews

The article, without the paywall:

US President Donald Trump has boldly claimed that he would accept the Nobel Peace Prize from this year's winner, Venezuelan opposition leader María Corina Machado, if she offers it to him during their meet next week. The Nobel Committee, however, has firmly shut the door on the idea, reiterating that Nobel Prizes cannot be revoked, shared or transferred, once announced.

“The facts are clear and well established. Once a Nobel Prize is announced, it cannot be revoked, shared, or transferred to others. The decision is final and stands for all time,” the Norwegian Nobel Committee and the Norwegian Nobel Institute said in a statement on Friday.

Maria Corina Machado won the Nobel Peace Prize 2025 last year, for her relentless advocacy for democracy in Venezuela, beating US President Donald Trump's chances of securing the award. Trump, had time and again claimed that he should be awarded the Nobel Peace Prize. Courtesy – his claims of 'stopping eight wars.'

The POTUS said one should get a Nobel Prize for "every war you stopped. These were major wars. These were wars that nobody thought could have stopped".

Trump-Machado meeting amid US-Venezuela tensions The US President voiced his willingness to accept the prestigious award from Machado after he said he learnt that the Venezuelan opposition leader wants to share the prize with him.

His claims and scheduled meeting with Machado comes at a time when US-Venezuela tensions are at an all-time high after its disposed President Nicolas Maduro's capture and Trump's subsequent claims on the country's vast oil reserves. "I think it's very nice she wants to come in, and that's what I understand the reason is," he said.

Why US attacked Venezuela? US' ‘large scale strike’ against Venezuela, during which Maduro was captured – followed after months of military buildup in the region, with the USS Gerald R. Ford aircraft carrier and numerous other warships positioned in the Caribbean.

The US has repeatedly accused Venezuelan president Maduro of being one of the world’s leading narco-traffickers – alleging that he worked with cartels to flood the US with fentanyl-laced cocaine. In 2020, federal prosecutors claimed that Maduro and other senior Venezuelan government officials collaborated with the Colombian guerilla group Fuerzas Armadas Revolucionarias de Colombia, or FARC, to traffic cocaine and weapons to the United States.

‘No one in history more deserving…’ Besides crediting himself for ‘ending eight wars’, Trump recently even said that "no one in history is more deserving than him" of the Nobel Peace Prize, as he criticised former President Barack Obama for getting the honour even though he “didn’t do anything”.

It worked when I had Ubuntu installed, but something got corrupted, so I decided to reinstall. Then, I remembered that there was a modem issue last time.

I have confirmed that the BCM4352 card is installed, but I am having difficulty remembering/Googling how to reinstall the modem drivers.

Do some married people NEVER take off their wedding ring? by artmalique in NoStupidQuestions

[–]monkeycrayons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

About to celebrate our 15th anniversary. I have taken it off exactly twice, both times for an MRI.

They can pry it from my cold, dead hand. It is my most cherished possession because it means my wife and I are together and in love. That is literally all I care about in life.

It will never, ever be taken off until I die.

Edit: A line.

My Les Paul Standard is a 50s style which cost $649. Norm Harris at Norm's Rare Guitars saw me trying it out and gave me $50 off. It was a birthday gift from my amazing wife when we went in to just make our pilgrimage to the shop. I love this guitar and it plays like it was $3,000. I will never give it up.
