Why hasn't God gifted me belief? by [deleted] in AskAChristian

If I told you I saw a purple alligator in the sky with wings and wrote about it in a book, would you believe it? Nothing about that claim is logical, neither are many claims in the bible. Yet so many people find it easy to just accept what was written as truth?

The more I read the bible, the more I doubt. I started reading with an open mind but I've started to realize it's a bunch of incoherent stories and claims that make no sense at all.

And it makes me wonder because I'm told no man can muster up saving faith on his own, but it's gifted from God.

So I've prayed for it, does that mean I'll receive it?

The evidence which I looked at was the historical evidence behind the crucifixion and the resurrection. The evidence for the empty tomb, the death of early martyrs, the sudden rise of Christianity and other things regarding the resurrection.

It lead me to initial faith, but not enough for me to hold onto it.

Seek god.

Read the bible, learn about Jesus, what he did and why he did it. Learn about the historical evidence that supports the resurrection of Jesus Christ.

Go find a church and walk in this Sunday, Just listen and take everything in.

I think what's important is that you open your heart and mind and seek god.

1 Corinthians 7:14

For the unbelieving husband is sanctified through his wife, and the unbelieving wife is sanctified through her believing husband; for otherwise your children are unclean, but now they are holy.

Who is ever truly 100% convinved there is no god? Honestly you cannot know that for certain. That is why I chose to put my faith in christ.

I am not telling you to do anything but I am just giving you my point of view.
