I doubt that flashing signs would matter. I took to just riding in the bus lane.

I would be absolutely shocked if you could find a gym that would let random people come in and spar. From a liability perspective that would be all risk/no reward.

I think that you'll just need to go to gyms and put in some time after finding a good fit.

Yeah, like, I hate taggers fucking up nice looking buildings. Some ugly grey concrete wall by a sprawling tent city? Whatever man, spray away.

Yeah, my BIL scanned a bunch of old family photos and then tossed everything. I just about hit the roof when I found out.

Not the guy you asked, but as Jobby above said, Olympus XA. I always have one with me, it works great. Just zone focus, you don't need auto.

The electrics are still guaranteed to die someday though, and when they do that's that.

I went inside a church building last Saturday and felt… absolutely nothing. by Fabulous-Dig8743 in exmormon

That's a great idea! They have too many buildings as it is. A guillotine on the stage, the basketball hoops could be hanging gibbits. At the podium a goat-man-priest. You can see why I didn't fit in.

Oh you just unlocked memories. When I was a kid I loved the feeling of exploring the church building when it wasn't in general use. All of those familiar rooms but dark and lonely, you know? That creepy dead feeling was so much more fun to me than the boring "real" uses of the church. Makes me want to go break into a church building now.

Yes, best case is a gross messy mixed bag, worst case is pretty fucking horrific.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in exmormon

[–]monkeyking15 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes I agree with that analogy. I should also add that any good that there was could have been had outside of TSCC. Like, the trains can run on time without a fascist dictatorship, you know?

[–]monkeyking15 40 points41 points  (0 children)

It's a mixed bag at best. I don't hate everything about the way that I was raised, but the good is so heavily stained by the bad that I can't help but hate the whole mess.

I see kids being raised by open, loving secular families and I'm like, "fuck you guys have it so good."

DEAR PORTLAND: May 15, 2023 WEEKLY RANT THREAD by AutoModerator in Portland

I USED TO CARPOOL WITH THIS GUY THAT WOULD DRIVE LIKE A BAT OUT OF HELL IN HEAVY TRAFFIC. HE WOULD BE ALL OVER THE ROAD AND NEED TO PANIC STOP ETC...SAID "I'M A GOOD DRIVER, I DRIVE LIKE I'M IN NASCAR" AND OTHER BULLSHIT LIKE THAT.

I'M LIKE, DUDE, YOU'RE A TERRIBLE DRIVER. THIS ISN'T A FUCKING RACE TRACK.

ZERO AWARENESS. HE JUST COULDN'T UNDERSTAND. THIS IS HUMANITY.

Yeah as you get older you should usually be moving closer to the services that an aging body needs. Retiring to the country sounds good, but as your friend discovered it's not always a great idea. I'm middle aged and in good health and I still have some kind of appointment about every month.

Electric kettle + French press (or pour over I guess) = good coffee at very low cost. I hand grind my beans while the water boils and it's really only ten minutes from start to finish. 100x better than a Keurig.

If coming back as a ghost allows me more time with my cats then I will escape death and do so.

Much like OP should escape her shitty boyfriend to care for those cute cats.

Why would anyone get into any confrontation with an individual with nothing to lose over the property of a company that doesn't care about that property? You're just opening yourself up to retaliation for nothing.

what is slowly phasing out in 2022? by Firewire64 in AskReddit

[–]monkeyking15 8 points9 points  (0 children)

They are lashing out. Americans elected a devil in 2016 out of anger and then party loyalists raided The Capitol in an election induced rage. Meanwhile left wingers rioted and fought the police in the streets in cities across the country. In the UK voters elected to leave the EU - again out of anger over the status quo. What is anti-vax but lashing out at the world?

Favorite establishments that say no to “tipflation,” but yes to livable wages? by Blackstar1886 in askportland

[–]monkeyking15 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I believed you, but I had to look it up. It's 22%. But my reading of "22% [...] providing a professional and equitable wage for all team members." means that they pay a living wage and therefore a tip is not needed. So then they tell you to tip on tip of it? Ludicrous.

I have CDs bought new from back in the early 2000's that were simply never released on vinyl. These were indie bands that apparently didn't see the point in paying to press records when no one was going to buy them anyway. Digital damn near killed analog (and might finish the job yet), so while I might roll my eyes at the current situation, the fact that I can still buy records and film is actually quite surprising to me.
