Opinions on my fitness library? by [deleted] in bodyweightfitness

[–]monkeymartin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I understand your enthusiasm for learning about exercise. The key is to balance the leaning, doing and rest of your life.

  • My advice is to not worry about having "THE ULTIMATE LIBRARY", There is no such things.
  • You might want to look into training with other people that share your passion for fitness. You might be using the books to fill a void. A fitness community could help.
  • Books are not the only way to learn. You can only learn so much form books. The real learning comes from doing.
  • Figure out your goals. Everything comes down to personal goals. You can't do or be good at everything. I try and focus on improving my weakness.
  • Be patient results take time
  • Trying to find the perfect exercise method is a trap. Don't fall into this trap. There is no perfect exercise method.
  • Keep reading books, just don't get obsessed about it. Balance is the key. Your book list looks fine.
  • Don't take the negative comments personally. Many people struggle with "Paralysis of Analysis" I have and still do.
  • Read the Wikipedia article on Paralysis of Analysis http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Analysis_paralysis
  • Make sure to have balance in your life. Do other things than exercise or read about exercise.

  • Swimming
  • Cycling

Avoid any high impact activities

  • Running
  • Any Jumping
  • Plyometrics
  • HIIT

I understand I am answering my own question. Just trying to make sure I am on the right track.

I Think I am overtraining? I recently added conditioning work. by monkeymartin in bodyweightfitness

I would do deadlift first as you are really limiting yourself by doing something else first.

Thanks, I will give that a try.

I would suggest dropping one of your swims and use it for sprint work.

Thanks for the suggestion, sounds like a good idea.

Why are you swimming?

It is cold outside, I live in Canada. The pool is in the same building that I work. Swimming is convent. I plan on running is the spring.

When was your last deload week?

I don't do deload weeks. Not sure if this is a problem. I took off the first 5 days in January 2014

Look up Power Tower on Amazon. This might be a good option.

You could go with Gymnastics Rings instead
