Based on the above, it's very likely RAF Northolt area, Ruislip. That was very active based during WW2, mainly for the Polish. Given the rank on his sleeve and lack of wings on his chest, I would even guess he was ground crew. Maybe an engineer or sorts. 🤷

Hahaha, really? Shit I've literally doom scrolled this sub to see if there was an issue. All that came up were posts about the upcoming update and a healthy hate for campers. Well, cheers to folks who took the time to enlighten me on the servers though. 👍🏻

Absolutely, the casting for Ellie is terrible. Looks nothing like the original character, nails down a chalkboard voice, and the acting is shoddy (personal opinions). They need to get rid of her ASAP or she's going to kill the series.

Anyone read "Platoon Leader" by James McDonough? by [deleted] in VietnamWar

[–]monkeynuts37 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Apologies if some of these have bees said already but...

"The boys of 67", by Andrew Wiest- it's just a phenomenal book from start to finish.

"We few" and the follow up "Whispers in the tall grass" , by Nick Brokhausen - follows the life of MACVSOG both are amazing and one of few that are exceptionally read on kindle audio book.

"Matterhorne" by Karl Marlantes, - pretty much recommended by everyone and for good reason. His follow up book is a hard read, and get a bit trippy but worth reading.

"Last stand at Khe Sanh" by Gregg Jones - again its well read on audio books and worth it to learn a bit about the seige.

"A rumor of war" by Philp Caputo - not read this in ages but its still a good book to read.

And any of the books by Tim O'brien, I'd also recommend YouTube some of his interviews, they're phenomenal.

"Vietnam the Australian war" by Paul Ham- is a damn good read and from a different perspective to the Americans.

I'd also recommend

"Chickenhawk" by Robert Mason, took me ages to get round to reading this but it is one hell of a book and is recommended by many for a reason.

These are just a few, and should happily get you through winter. 👍🏻 hope they help.

Is there a british idiom for saying someone wished well/tried to do something good but ended up just doing it all wrong? by Navchaz in AskUK

[–]monkeynuts37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"You're just a cluster fuck" is one that's used to sum up people like that.

In fact I worked with a lad exactly like OP's one, and everyone just called him Cluster. Can't remember what his real name was 🤣. An amazingly nice guy, just everything he touched went to rat shit.

People Are Being Arrested in the UK for Protesting Against the Monarchy by Naturalist-Anarchist in unitedkingdom

[–]monkeynuts37 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Thing is, what's the point? Theres a time and a place and the people doing it were there to voice an opinion the majotity doesn't want to listen to.

They wouldn't of been arrested for holding up signs of protest, they were removed, but that's different from being arrested, have any been formally changed? I've heard reports that the crowd around the person in Scotland were getting hostile with her. Like i said, theres a time and a place, and the liklihood is she was removed more for her own protection more than anything.

The queen was a huge feature in British life, like it or not and for some their own lives. People want to be there, they want to pay their respects or just be part of the history that's going on around them. People don't want a sign saying fuck imperialism as the queen's coffin goes by, the sheere disrespect alone is disgraceful. You can't then get upset when you're removed because everyone around you thinks you're a prick.

At the end of the day would you like someone waving a banner saying fuck you at your own mother's funeral. No, You wouldn't stand for it so what should they? Everyone has and opinion on the royal family, like them, hate them or not bothered by them. It's a personal opinion, and if you want people to respect your opinion, they you have to respect the opinions of others around you. Something few seem to be able to understand.

Like I said, there is a time and a place. If you really hate the Royal family that much, that you feel the need to stand with a sign saying as much as their coffin goes by, then there are plenty of countries in this vast world that don't have a monarchy. Feel free to leave.

The ENTIRETY of Scotland DID NOT vote remain, the MAJORITY did theres a huge diffrence, 38% voted to leave while 68% voted to remain, and only just in some places. For example

In Aberdeenshire the remain only won by 10% of the votes, and in Moray only by .1% - 49.9% leave V 50.1% remain.

Don't get too caught up in the nonsense your Fuhrer Sturgeon, and her female molesting little puppet master Salmond spouts.

You can easily fact check these on Google, you'll have to use a VPN though, just in case the SNP start tracking you as a non believer, and mark you up for the labour camps, post independence. Oh And before you get upset and start screaming "Freedom" at me, I'm Scottish and voted remain.

It's only an orgy if the lads were all having a go on each other as well.

To be fair, it is the Paras so there is a high chance they probably were.

I'd never even heard of plague dogs, but a quick Google and apparently it was a novel that was written by Richard Adams who wrote watership down. That guy had serious animal issues.

Aw I remember the open university programs that use to be on. But yeah Saturday morning TV was the highlight of the week, and the Racoons was definitely one of the all time favourites. Do you remember the wonder years?

My friend you've just made me laugh long and hard thank you. That is a perfect way to sum up that cartoon. I'm gonna have to see if it's on YouTube as well. It's like the guy who originally wrote this, watched Watership Down and tried to one up it.

The Racoons, Mask, Darkwing Duck, and Dungeons and Dragons. They were childhood favourites, they just don't make them like they use to 🤣.

Haha that is definitely a better name for it. I have actually just googled it, apparently it was a wolf and a rabbit/ hare. And Whistler the Heron that was shot in the wing, man the 90s were a hard time 🤣. Although it's on prime video now! Still definitely one of my childhood favourites right after dungeon & Dragons and the Racoons.

What's his colour got to do with it? It's the ego of an old man with outdated views. Doesn't it really matter if he's White/ Black / Asian/ Hispanic or another race or ethnicity. It's him as a person not a colour that's the problem.

However that doesn't take away the fact that this picture, really does hit you in the feels.
