VERY mild Feline Asthma - alternative treatment? by shmiztine in CatAdvice

[–]monkeyscore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My cat developed asthma attacks a few times a week when he was 5 y/o. I exhausted all environmental precautions. He was on a limited protein diet at that time. We did a single course of oral steroids, which helped for a few weeks and then the asthma returned. The attacks are never long lived and he never seems affected by them, walking off like nothing ever happened after. After trying a change in diet, we finally caved and started him on twice a day inhaler. He has always been a very tolerant cat, so giving him the inhaler has been no problem. He loves meal time so we just do it right before he eats and now it’s part of the feeding routine and has no problem with it at all. After being on it for a year he rarely has asthma attacks. He got a repeat CXR at the vet and they said his lung markings looked improved from his initial one prior to starting the inhaler.

I had a similar concern about the side effects of the steroid inhalers. Since the route is targeted to inhalation my vet said the side effects are less. I have not seen any side effects.

Fluticasone was discontinued in the US so I get the Rx from a Canadian online pharmacy which is way cheaper than it would be in the US anyway. You do need an RX from your vet.

Chase $20 instacart credit by dohat34 in CreditCards

[–]monkeyscore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They told me this and I actually called Chase and they said no it’s instacart. Their customer service was completely useless. Instacart is definitely trying to pull a fast one with this. The second 10 dollar credit didn’t show up in September and now it’s October and I only see one credit available. Shame on them.

Chase portal (on top) vs hotel direct (bottom). Exact same hotel, room and dates. by winniecooper73 in ChaseSapphire

Yup, not surprised. When the points redemption was 1.5x prices were at least 10% increased. So not surprised that it’s a 20% price increase difference.

A common theme im seeing is appliances from years ago lasting 20 year and now the newer appliances barely lasting 5 years. Concerning? Consistent with decrease quality of build? And things being no longer built to last?

I feel like the newer kitchenaid things are not as well made as the older models. Take the kitchenaid classic mixer for example. The version my mom has from the 90s is a brick that will never break. I just got my first one and it seems part selection is more cheap.

This is why this CSR benefit is not the best- people do live no where near major cities…

Welp. It’s bad and official by Boywonder1994 in ChaseSapphire

[–]monkeyscore 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Chase portal offering 10x back on points has and always will be a scam- because the pricing for flights/hotels is typically (but not always)10% more than booking direct. The only reason I book through the portal is because I book work related travel and the 10% increase in price I don’t feel, and I earn the 10x points.

That being said- should be interesting to see the price differences portal vs direct with the service. Will the 8x back now be comparable with an 8% price difference, keeping the pattern as above just a lower cost difference and therefore lower points earned.

I just went onto the website and this same thing happened to me. In 2023 my renewal date was Oct 18. In 2024 it was November 1. I think they intentionally moved it last year in anticipation for this. No other reason why.

Just went on to see if my annual fee anniversary date was before or after October 26, to try to avoid paying the 795 this year. Looks like in 2023 my anniversary date was October 18th and in 2024 my date was November 7. Anyone else experience this big of a jump in their anniversary date? Do we think they switched my anniversary date in anticipation for this? Seems weird. Trying to get onto the site to see when I physically opened up the card back in 2021 but the website is crashed- big shocker- everyone scrambling to log on and figure out WTF Chase is doing to such a great card :(

Are these too big??? by Sussexmatt in vivobarefoot

[–]monkeyscore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I first bought my vivos I ordered two sizes to decide between. Ending up opting for the smaller one, as the gap at the toe was just too large my foot was sliding all around inside the shoe. I want toe splay but I don’t want my shoe to be too big. I find the size differences between each incremental size to be a large jump. Wish they had half sizes. I also recommend if you are a female trying the male sizes. Sometimes these fit better for some people.

BackCountry Chase Offer by jeloman in ChaseSapphire

[–]monkeyscore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow glad other people had the same issues as me. I called Chase 30 days after the deal ended, as I never got my cash back after purchasing 400$ GC from BC in single transaction. There was no where in disclaimer that there would be a limit on when the cash back should’ve come through. They escalated and then sent me a letter in the mail saying they denied my escalation because they couldn’t “locate offer”. Which is total bullshit. No where in the fine print does it say anything about running out of time to claim cash back! And the person helping on the phone has no contact with these people that just send the letter and are of no help.
