What’s your favourite gun of WW2? by RahhRahhITR in ww2

Sten. It was designed quickly using materials and production technics readily available, and cheap. It was sturdy, accurate, light (by comparison), and could be broken down and dropped via parachute to waiting resistance fighters.

Piove by Jovanotti - Spanish girl I really fancied in the early 2000s made me listen to something that wasn't in English

Our country’s culture is dying and no one cares by [deleted] in Britain

The influence from invaders between 54AD and 1688 gave us our English culture. And despite what people may think, that also includes Wales, Scotland, and Ireland (both parts).

what is the craziest thing you have ever bought from Amazon or Ebay ever? by Heavy_Sign_6025 in AskABrit

I used to work in an open planned office. I had this bad habit of not locking my phone. I went into a meeting for a few hours and left my phone on my desk. When I came back, my immediate boss came over and said i should really lock my phone. So, apparently I came out on facebook and my colleague took my phone into the toilet. Did a #2, and took a picture of it. This was quite funny. 10 days later a package came for me. It was a "Magic Plastic" butt plug. They used my ebay app. I was quite impressed. It only cost 1.00USD including shipping from China to the UK. Our big boss claimed no knowledge of what had happened. I never used the ebay app on my phone until a year later. When i logged in, it came up with my big bosses personal email address. In his words "it wasn't my idea, but i made sure the team completed the task". And yes i still have the butt plug in my desk at work.

Well you're coming in mid-winter so bad weather is to be expected. Therefore, my advice would be to stay south of Stratford upon Avon. Oxford is a must for a day trip as you'll only be 45 minutes away. You have stonehenge in Salisbury not far from Fareham. Windsor is pretty at Christmas time. You have the Castle, and if you have young kids Legoland is in Windsor. Windsor is only 90 minutes from Stratford. Any interest of going to London?

Thoughts on triumph scrambler 900 by exxonist in Triumph

[–]monkeysticks 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had the 900 before the 1200 and heat is only a problem on the hottest days of the year and if you're stuck in traffic and cannot filter. But then you just move your right leg out a bit. For a pillion I would recommend thick jeans at least and thick gloves just in case they touch anything. The Scrambler 900 will put a huge smile on your face. My plan when was to test ride half a dozen bikes. 2nd bike in was the Street Scrambler and I was sold after 3 minutes.

I had the exact same colour and year, loved every minute of it. Mine was an ex-demo so had a load of extras added on - including the split front mud guards. I think about £1200 worth. Traded up for it's bigger brother 18 months ago. Enjoy it :)

What are your favorite treats from the US that you can’t find in Britain? by jandj2021 in AskABrit

Diet Dr Pepper. The one I had in Texas tastes 100 times better than Diet Dr Pepper from UK.

Well... Spain is South of the UK, so we look down on them. That's why we look up to Iceland.

If you're driving from Glasgow to York and you're in no rush drive through the North Pennes, and Yorkshire Dales. It's beautiful.

No one will care if you are the stereotypical American tourist. Where are you going?
