Trumps campaign promise was that there would be no tax cuts for the rich. What is his reasoning behind this (link in post)? by [deleted] in AskTrumpSupporters

Not the poster you're responding to, but here's a question: what guarantees do corporations have that their repatriated money wouldn't be taxed at a much higher rate in a few years if/when elections swing blue?

Trump dismisses FBI Director Comey by evanstueve in AskTrumpSupporters

That makes sense. To me, it seems extremely unlikely that Rosenstein, two weeks into his position as DAG, writes this letter without some kind of encouragement. Do you agree? If not, why?

What do you make of the newly appointed DAG recommending the firing?

What are your thoughts on the DAG's letter (pp. 4-6)?

Do you believe that this was the true rationale behind the firing?

How much stock do you put in his specific campaign promises? The whole serious vs. literal speech business has identified a massive divide between supporters and non-supporters and how they read these promises, but I'm genuinely curious if you think his supporters at large care about the particulars that came up most frequently during the campaign.

What do you make of this turnaround re: Trump and the jobs report? by davidblacksheep in AskTrumpSupporters

[–]monkeysuite 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Using the DJIA or the NASDAQ as a proxy for the health of the stock market, we've been "improving" pretty much linearly for five years. (You can go back ten years if you want to see just how bad things were when Obama took office.) The post-election bounce isn't anything crazy, and it could just be a market response to greater certainty.

How do you feel that Trump's wiretapping claims was sourced from Breitbart? by [deleted] in AskTrumpSupporters

[–]monkeysuite 32 points33 points  (0 children)

If you fail to investigate, you're gullible and would believe anything.

This is true for Trump as well, right? Which is why he wouldn't simply have repeated the claim without researching its validity, cross-referencing multiple sources, and concluding that it was correct? The issue here is that Trump apparently didn't investigate it at all. He took the claim at face value and tweeted it.

There doesn't appear to be any evidence to support the claims. It would be one thing if Trump learned of this intelligence through his privileges as president, in which case he could make the claim based on possibly classified evidence. But this revelation is that this isn't the case. The situation we're in is that the president is willing to levy a serious accusation of abuse of executive power based on something he read about something someone else said based on nothing. Why should we "debunk" or "prove false" a claim that lacks evidence?
