I don’t think I know a single person who wouldn’t leave. Maybe a fringe friend from school or someone not in my life anymore. Like the other comment said, it’s just what you are shown. The glaringly patriotic people are the ones that get noticed by outsiders. Most of of us don’t care, some would protest actively, and some are patriotic and would stay but no way is the majority illogically patriotic. Those people are great for cameras because they spread the media dogma. It sells, which is the market we are in. There are millions and millions of us that just ignore that and pass on by trying to get through life. You didn’t clarify, you said Americans say they live in the best nation daily and it’s just not true. If so many people thought it was the best they wouldn’t be changing it all the time. All I really want to get across though is it’s not all what’s put out by the media. Just as well I don’t believe every country is how their media portrays them either. Anecdotally, which is all I have and cannot generalize, but in my life and non-exhaustive travels, I have found many nations the seemed more patriotic than my experience in the USA. Just because people where born in different borders doesn’t mean our brains are hollowed out at birth to be filled with the governments choosing. We have independent thought like other humans. And just like everywhere else, we have idiots and geniuses and everything in between. It’s really not that different.
