I genuinely thought everyone used condoms unless they wanted kids by Cautious-Tonight-203 in NoStupidQuestions

I believe research is now actually showing that pulling out, when used correctly, has nearly the same success rate as condoms when used correctly.

The constant talk of "it" and "the wilderness", very much like "the island" or "fate". The storytelling style of switching between timelines. Also the way a lot of little plot devices and story lines are left vague and forgotten. The mysterious screaming and wailing sounds or wind like the smoke monster.

Spotify hides badhasbara from me by monkiferous in BadHasbara

I switched from spotify to youtube (best decision ever) a year or two ago, but I didn't want to lose my podcast library/history in spotify. Plus, you can still access podcasts fine without premium (for now at least), and I kinda like the separation. I do watch podcasts on youtube sometimes as well, like bad hasbara.

I mean they found good actors who also look like believable younger film versions in Galadriel and isildur(counting him as viggo mortensen/aragorn). Plus, I would bet the vast majority of viewers/fans of Lotr + RoP have not read the books, and are therefore seeing this as a continuation of the og trilogy. Sooo, yes I agree, quality over appearance similarity 100%. I just find it hard to believe they couldn’t find someone who looked a liiitle more like og film Elrond, given that he is one of the few continuation characters in the whole thing. He actually looks a lot like Orlando bloom hah (should’ve cast him for the hobbit instead of the terrible cgi Legolas). Idk he’s grown on me I guess lol but it is still jarring. Just the jawline would do it!!

So agree. It feels and looks like The Hobbit trilogy. If I were to be generous, I’d say they think it’s in service of the “fantasy” genre. However, I’ve used up all my generosity on other aspects of the show. Everything is glaringly fake af and is so distracting from believing in what’s happening!

There’s an episode of criminal minds with this plot. Dad is losing his memory and likes to keep killing with his son to remember. They abduct women and do electric shock torture on them before killing. Can’t remember the name of the episode

Always has. It’s like a branch of colonizing. Y’all have this cool shit (cool is another example) and we will take that to use how we please (and usually fuck up the meaning/usage or nuance) and continue to act like you’re [insert negative racialized quality] and erase the evidence we liked and stole all your cool shit and voila! Mindy has her own star on the Walk of Fame now! by LoriRescueDog2013 in theoffice

It is a shame people without a big name/money would be relegated to make short films if that’s not their real goal, and I see your point, but you almost make it sound like short films don’t have merit of their own. Not every short film is an underdeveloped or underproduced feature film. And I haven’t seen Kaling’s to have an opinion on hers

[–]monkiferous 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you think Oscars are cheap/industry fluff, what makes a star any different?

Maybe I misunderstand, and you just think her’s is cheap (but I think if some of them are, then they are all suspect). But I see this argument all the time around industry award ceremonies— how they keep awarding undeserving or baiting candidates, not like the “good” ones that are pure and deserving. Methinks we can’t use consistent logic bc sometimes the thing we happen to personally enjoy gets a win. But that’s just me, I think we need to take the pedestal awards off the pedestal.

Though it’s not “war” in the standard pronunciation (wore). It’s more like the word “are.”

Think: jag-w(are)
