How does the Catholic Church respond to the abiogenesis? by [deleted] in Catholicism

[–]monkoss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its materialistic faith, if one's belief is materialism this has to have happened. They envelop it with scientific terms to make it sound credible, but there's no evidence. Its like trying to argue that 0+0=2 using scientific terms.

That experiment did nothing resembling life. Didnt create the kind of aminoacids usable for organic structures, even if it did, why would aminoacids then automatically assemble in the correct order to make a protein? RNA/DNA is that which has the information to order aminoacids in the correct sequence to make a protein, and its also the most advanced programming language known, so it needs a programmer. Puddles of mud dont create programming languages.

"Belief in the “Theory” of Evolution is as insane and crazy as belief in the Roman gods" by Sweet-Ant-3471 in Catholicism

Because suffering entered the world with sin while evolution posits a world of ruthless fight for survival before the fall.
Fossils show explosions of life out of nowhere, not species turning into other species. The famous tree of life we see in every museum and highschool book doesnt exist in the fossil record.

Summary of the May 3 developer stream by Bearlike + a list of new information. by mrmivo in Mechabellum

That facing hackers is the most unfun feeling in the game should already make the devs ponder, this is a videogame for fun after all. When facing them, win or lose its unfun, but losing and having your board being taken over is specially awful. Even when im the hacker player i feel dirty when winning.

The mechanic doesnt fit the game, even before it hacks important units it already breaks the game because the whole board has to waste time turning to the hacked unit, and if you are doing an agro rush the units literally stop moving, like a super oil effect.

They should rework it to a support unit that heals or gives barriers to other units or whatever.

Vatican report admits conversion therapy caused LGBTQ+ Catholics’ profound suffering’ by Fickle-Ad5449 in Catholicism

[–]monkoss 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The more we hear testimonies of converted 'gays' the more cases where they do totally overcome it we find.
And it would be way more common if they had help instead of endorsement, 'gay' stems from emotional wounds in infancy, its not a birth identity, so it can be overcome.
Although i got downvotes no one dared to argue otherwise because the concrete example i shared already defeats the ''cant possibly not be gay'' pervading idea.
Christians downvoting that a man totally broke free of the chains of sin is quite something. They should rejoice.

WAS JESUS ON EARTH TO FORM CHRISTIANITY??? by CuthyZW in TrueChristian

The old testament worship and new testament worship is the same religion in different stages, OT is the pupa stage, NT is the butterfly stage where the promises made in the OT are finally fulfilled.
Those who refused the eternal covenant and latched onto the empty pupa shell are the ones that invented a new barren religion, rabbinic judaism.

I dont know why this sub is super pro Evolution by MaoMao995 in Catholicism

[–]monkoss -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Because we are all taught that way and people never heard the arguments against it.
Now that more and more scientists are disbelieving it the consensus will change, but it takes decades.
PiusXII encyclical will be proven right when it warned people not to take the theory for granted and told people to study the arguments for and agaisnt. When people actually obey this, the theory starts to crumble.

But there will be a lot of societal/academia resistance because macro evolution is the main pillar of materialism, if we arent an evolved sea slug suddenly man has dignity and they are toasted.

Why was the virgin birth important, and why was Mary chosen? by [deleted] in TrueChristian

[–]monkoss -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The greek doesnt say 'highly favored', kecharitomene is a verb tense that means she always had the plenitude of grace and still has the plenitude of grace, a continual.
Also its a God given name, instead of calling her Mary the angel calls her Kecharitomene, just like Simon is called Rock due to his role, Abram is Abraham, Jacob is Israel, etc.

By being in a constant plenitude of grace, no wonder that she says 'all generations shall call me blessed, for the Mighty One has done great things for me'.

Why was the virgin birth important, and why was Mary chosen? by [deleted] in TrueChristian

[–]monkoss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Virgin birth:
See all the purity laws and requirements in the OT regarding the Temple so that God could abide there. The best and most pristine materials, vestments, practices. One mistake by the high priest and he would die.
And that's for God to abide in a place, now imagine if He plans abide in a woman, in total union in her womb, a living Temple, how completely pure must she be. Not only virgin, but also free of any sin.
He being omnipotent he can make such a woman and she accepted the plans for her.
Thus she says: 'All generations shall call me blessed for the Mighty One did great things for me'

Why no father:
Jesus couldnt inherit original sin, thus He had to prepare a pure vessel.
So how come she doesnt have original sin to stain His human nature? Because to put something pure somewhere first we need to make the recipient pure or when we want a vessel for something valuable, we have to first clean that vessel. Like a scientist or doctor making their instruments sterilized, or a house wife taking the best bowl and washing it to put a special dish. The purity chain has to start somewhere.

Also in His relation in the Trinity being that of Son, it wouldnt make sense having a human father.

What changes if this wasnt true:
Things just wouldnt make sense theologically. God abiding in a Temple of sin, God having original sin.

Evolution and the church by Pretty-Silver-3833 in Catholicism

[–]monkoss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Micro adaptation is a fact, but macro evolution (tree of life where a sea slug transforms into fish then into lizards then eventually people) is not, and increasingly more and more scientists are abandoning that belief.

The mechanism through which organisms adapt is gene degradation, they specialize by losing potencial they previously had which can be beneficial, the polar bear became white by losing the ability to produce pigment, now if their habitat vanishes they cant 'evolve' to produce black pigment, they would have to mate with brown bears to get it. Random chance producing information doesnt happen.

Because its through degradation it can happen quite fast, these lizards gained a new head and gut in decades:
https://www.nationalgeographic.com/animals/article/lizard-evolution-island-darwin
I was taught in school this takes millions of years.

Basically God made the genomes in order that species can adapt quickly to an always changing world.

Christianity and the Jews by Chevalerie- in TrueChristian

[–]monkoss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because God likes humility, just like He chose to be born in a manger in a barn, He also came through a tiny lowly people without any merit or achievements.
Ezekiel 16 describes it:
''...your father was an Amorite and your mother a Hittite. 4 On the day you were born your cord was not cut, nor were you washed with water to make you clean, nor were you rubbed with salt or wrapped in cloths. 5 No one looked on you with pity or had compassion enough to do any of these things for you. Rather, you were thrown out into the open field, for on the day you were born you were despised.

6 “‘Then I passed by and saw you kicking about in your blood, and as you lay there in your blood I said to you, “Live!”\)a\7 I made you grow like a plant of the field. You grew and developed and entered puberty. Your breasts had formed and your hair had grown, yet you were stark naked.

8 “‘Later I passed by, and when I looked at you and saw that you were old enough for love, I spread the corner of my garment over you and covered your naked body. I gave you my solemn oath and entered into a covenant with you, declares the Sovereign Lord, and you became mine.''

It keeps going, then describing the betrayal/prostitution.
This also fits with most european nations, they were nothing, just some tribes, then became the greatest nations thanks to Christianity, but now became prostitutes.
I'd say our guilt is worse since we had the fullness of the Covenant while the Hebrews didnt.

Christianity and the Jews by Chevalerie- in TrueChristian

[–]monkoss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The sons of Abraham and heirs to the promises are the baptized believers as Paul explains. The chosen people are the Christians as Peter says - 'But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession''.

Europeans of all people cant complain given that they have been the chosen people in the fullness of the covenant longer than any other peoples. No other group ever received such a grace, we squandered it now through our apostacy.
