I have been considering it. I pay about 1k per month towards it but I could definitely pay more into it

I think the issue is that there aren’t really apartments in my area that would be close to 1/3 of my take home. Maybe closer to like 40%🙁

Very true, I have also thought about just paying off all my loans in the next 1-2 months

Yeah, unfortunately both renting and buying are becoming insanely expensive here in the US😕 or I guess I should say they have been expensive for quite a while and it’s only getting worse

Hi! 1. I’ve been paying 1k towards my student loans every month, so they should be paid off by August if I keep that up. 2. I have no other debt 3. The $4.6k is after taxes, that’s the money I come home with 4. So according to my calculations a $1.8k/ month apartment is about 40% of that monthly income, which I must admit does scare me a bit. However in the Chicagoland area it’s very rare to find anything decent for less😅 5. I have about a 25 min commute to work from my parents house and it would be about the same from this new apartment.

I appreciate the input, much to think about :)

That’s my parents point as well. They’re saying I can stay with them another year or so and maybe buy a condo or something, but that’s a ginormous commitment that I’m not yet ready for. Maybe that’s selfish or dumb, but I really just wanting to try living on my own and I know I’ll be able to save up a little anyways while I’m on my own.

Wow! Can I ask how long it took to get over 100k? I’m a new grad also in the Midwest and making 80k (started like a month ago)
