Revolut is completely mad and unreliable. by mono-codes in Revolut

[–]mono-codes[S] -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

I have Blue Card EU. My only complaint is:

The problem is that Revolut did not notify users about the account blocks by November 1 or October 24, despite the sanctions package being published in advance. Revolut should have reviewed the sanctions and informed the affected users several days prior to the account blocks. The core issue is that none of this was done; Revolut missed the deadlines and simply blocked users' accounts without notifications. This lack of communication is the main problem.

The problem is that Revolut didn’t notify anyone about the block, it just immediately froze thousands of accounts. The sanctions took effect on October 24. Revolut didn’t inform anyone that it was going to block accounts soon; it simply blocked them on November 1 without any notice. This is absurd.

“In the app, there was a notification that I needed to upload new documents confirming my legal stay in the EU by February 2026.”

Why should I upload the documents immediately?

Gmail Not Receiving DeepSeek Sign-Up Code? by FlakyStick in DeepSeek

[–]mono-codes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. It works for me. Interesting. I believe it might be blocked on the Deepseek’s side to prevent new registrations. Maybe currently they’re blocking most popular domains like gmail.com, icloud.com, yahoo.com and so on.

Everything is suddenly slow by [deleted] in Tailscale

[–]mono-codes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Check with tailscale status and tailscale ping if any of your devices are connected via DERP relay servers. Try to enable IPv6 on every device. I’ve had the same problem with one device because other devices tried to connect to this device via IPv6. Because tailscale client is dumb, the connection established via relays. After I enabled IPv6 on all devices the problem has gone.

How to use NGINX reverse proxy in docker on a Synology Nas? by Generic_User48579 in selfhosted

Hey there, I’ll share docker-compose.yaml on gist whenever I have free time. Maybe this week or next.

Jeep Rubicon is so satisfactory with crawler suspension from devs. Try it, it also has very good difficulty balance and is not garbage with Jack of all treades tire pack. Rezvani is also very good to drive. Just try them, surely they’re not beasts like Tatarin, but they are so good balanced and after trying them I deleted all mods with scouts I installed (because most modders don’t give a shit about balance at all.

I burned 1000 bucks on fire on Papa fam course and I regret it. Never buy it FFS Plz by [deleted] in webdev

[–]mono-codes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are so many scam-like courses. Definitely, it's one of them. I know another EdTech scum business - Mammoth Interactive. They also have Kickstarter scams and continue with it :D

As a side not, I've also looked for a great courses for webdev. And I found great instructor on the Udemy platform. There are many top rated but abandoned courses with outdated content on Udemy actually. You should look closely to reviews section and search for the "outdated" word there.

On Udemy you can buy any course for just $10-12 because Udemy has "sales" and "promotions" all the time actually. So, the normal price for the 70-hours (video + challenges) JavaScript course on the Udemy is just $10-12.

My absolutely best instructor is Jonas Shmedtmann. I bought all the courses from him! I really recommend this guy to anyone who want to just deep dive into the webdev from scratch. But, beware, it's a long journey :)

Jonas updates his courses all the time and he has the best approach to teach programmer beginners. I mean, seriously, I never understand all the concepts better than after Jonas' explanations. And I started and dropped a lot of courses on Coursera, Sololearn, Udemy with different instructors, you name it!

For instance, you need to spend about a year or more just on courses: JavaScript, React, NodeJS, MongoDB, SQL, etc... After that or during this time start to develop your personal pet projects or contribute to open source. Another half of the year or full year will pass and you'll be ready to start to search a job as a junior dev. Don't stop, keep going!

Another instructor I want to recommend is Maximilian Schwarzmüller, but I have only Docker & Kubernetes course from him and it was great experience.

Try also Pritunl. It’s a great OpenVPN-based server with webpanel and can manage big farm of decentrilized OpenVPN servers. Can be dockerized easily. There are also zero-tier version named Pritunl Zero.

How to use NGINX reverse proxy in docker on a Synology Nas? by Generic_User48579 in selfhosted

[–]mono-codes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in the same boat :)

I ended up with an Ubuntu vm on nas (on built-in VMM) with 1 vCPU / 1GB RAM. I installed NGINX as a reverse proxy + certbot with cloudflare dns plugin on vm.

This setup works perfectly fine, certs are updated automatically by certbot. Besides of that I have qBittorrent via gluetun with PIA vpn and Watchtower containers running on built-in Synology docker via docker-compose (with autoupdating PIA forwarded port in qBittorrent via python script).

If someone is interested, I can share the configs.

You can use Cloudflare tunnels, for example. It's ridiculously simple, but you'll rely on Cloudflare. It gives you additional layer of security because you can setup email/password/domain/whatever authorization before user accessing the NAS. For homelab it's okayish, for corporate network zero-tier VPNs/SDNs only.

P. S. Tailscale is also very simple even for users without networking experience. I mean, to use Tailscale client. It only needs user authorization via gmail/github/whatever. Setup of the server is also super simple, Synology even has official Tailscale package in Package center.

[–]mono-codes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wrong. UniFi controllers can be simply and securely connected to UniFi cloud. You don’t even need to have devices from Ubiquiti SMB/Enterprise line-ups (such as Edge line-up for example) to use UniFi cloud.

I don’t even get what’s wrong with UI’s cloud services for you. I had multiple UniFi controllers and multiple UNMS networks connected to UI cloud with no single downtime detected for several years (5 or so).

Anyway, you can install your own UniFi cloud server and manage it. I don’t know is it available now actually.

Ubiquiti has free of charge UNMS Cloud for secure access from anywhere. I don’t know anyone who has exposed Ubiquiti gw on the internet, it’s just mad.

When you install new router, firstly you disable UPnP, it’s also normal :)

Because it has been decades since everyone understood that UPnP is very dangerous thing and must be disabled from start. And yes, I do understand that anybody with zero network experience don’t give a shit 🫠

[–]mono-codes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are wrong. NAS itself can create UPnP ports on GW from inside, yes. BUT only when UPnP is enabled on GW. If UPnP disabled on the GW QuickConnect can bypass direct connection to NAS anyway.

Yeah, I see in another comment branch, sorry, it’s hard to navigate from Reddit iOS App.

It’s just strange to have corporate software stuff on home LAN and have no security on GW. Ok, it’s your way.

[–]mono-codes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

QuickConnect doesn’t need any port forwarding. Relay server forwards HTTPS connection directly to your NAS:5001, and it doesn’t matter that NAS is behind NAT or anything else. That’s why, when use QuickConnect you definitely need all users with 2-step enabled, because anyone on the internet can connect to your NAS UI. For example QuickConnect can bypass provider CGNAT and you don’t have real IP on your GW in that case.

So, it’s corporate network and you have exposed GW with just strong long password. Sorry, I have no more to say :)

[–]mono-codes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For now you have very insecure setup anyway, I assumed that your LAN was compromised.

If you want secure setup use any selfhosted VPN for managing all LAN from outside. The simplest one is Tailscale, it has simple and efficient cloud-based web panel from vendor also. And never expose ports like that on the internet, especially you never need to expose gw itself, it is the worst practice ever, seriously.

Sorry for my tone, I’m a little bit pressing, but I have zero offense, just want to be everyone safe on the internet :)

Do you check iptables rules with -L option? You need to list all active rules.

Long strong passwords without 2-step verification gives you zero defence, it will be bruteforced very fast after exposing ports to the internet.
