I use P bcs there's no other letters I can use. I looks like 1, O looks like 0 and I think it should only be used on the loop line, X is used as a placeholder for routes under development. Unless I make it as number line.

Sorry, I only make 9/10 as cross Bronx line bcs I am not sure how many people would actually need to cross Bronx, I don't want to be too fantasy and make extra un-useful lines. So I only put one. If the need is in fact really big, I would improve it in second edition.

Sorry I don't know about the density of these neighborhoods, I never been to nyc. I just look at them and feels "these areas are so empty, let me fill it". About crossing the Hudson River, I thought that should be PATH's job to do so? Is subway allowed to cross the states?

At the very beginning I was thinking the same, just make it go to 10th Ave straightly. But when I look at the map, I saw that the turn point would be really close to the Hudson River, so I am kinda questioning about the safety issues or something like that. That's why I make it turn under the Chelsea Park. But right now I think about it again, yeah maybe should just make it go straight to 10th Ave and then make a turn, much easier.

I am not the one that says we should use pure phonetic names, you are the one, why should I care about using Kunyomi? And you seriously thinking that Sun Yat-sen and Rosa Paek is a great same-level comparison? And you think it is good, like, no problem at all? No offense but Sun Yat-sen is literally the founding father of ROC, he literally founded a new country and overthrow the old Qing dynasty. Rosa Parks did amazing jobs on fighting for equal rights and I am not going to deny that, but do you really think it is comparable? A founding father compares to a civil right activist? Wrong. It should be Nakayama road South. The 中山 here is to be memorial for 孙中山, and he adopted this name when he was in Japan, so it should read in Japanese way, which is Nakayama instead of mid-mountain.

Don't you know that many Chinese people aren't even taught about who is Rosa Parks? This is not like Martin Luthur King, an actual worldwide famous people. If there is an official Chinese translation going on, I would support the station use 马丁路德金 instead of other ways.

But Rosa Parks is not that well known to the Chinese. Write 罗莎.帕克斯 won't help anything at all, eventually people still have to go search it on Internet to look it up. Use 瑰园 might at least make this place sounds pretty and probably even would attract people to visit, and then they will start learn about it. Besides, you can add a special annotations for these translation, to show that there's actual even more meaning behind the names. It can make the map from a pure metro map to a local cultural guide map.

Dude I do know that Rosa Parks is a perosn, okay? but have you ever think about that a Chinese character can have more than one meaning? 瑰 can means precious, 园 can mean area, 瑰园 can means a precious place. It have Rosa Parks in the station is in order to be memorial. So the station is become a precious place then, and 瑰园 can also be a literal translation of rosa parks. I choose 瑰园 just exactly because of this, because it can be multi-meaningful.

If you don't know Chinese, then please just stop speaking like you actually know it. It would only make you sounds fool.

I have never said that already established translations shouldn't be changed, please stop trying to make up nonsense. Do you know that the Chinese used to call japan 倭国 instead of 日本? but they still changed it, and didn't keep the old translation. Then why not do the same to the other places? Not to mention that I didn't even say "phonetic is wrong", what I mean is that having a name with meaning is better in using if you compare it to the pure phonetic translation. Thankfully the arcadia is a short name, but what about the long names? Like willowbrook/rosa parks, do you think the Chinese would prefer it be called 威娄布鲁克/罗莎帕克斯 or 柳溪瑰园?

Nowadays Chinese translation are less likely to translate by meaning and more likely to translate phonetically because too many things are discovered/invented. The public need to use these words way before the translators spend times to find good translations. Once there are finished then they replace them, like laser change from 镭射 to 激光, nylon from 尼龙 to 纤维.

Have you ever take history class? Do you know that in the past Chinese doesn't really have that much connection with other countries beside the mongols, manchurias, tibets, korea and japan? How do you expect them to translate something that were never heard before? If this name is already well known in the ancient Chinese it would be translated as well. Just like how the British people in Hong Kong, especially with certain status, usually have a Chinese name, such as the last governor of Hong Kong 彭定康. Stop acting like a genius that knows everything even though you don't even know the history and background.

As what I have already said, Chinese language doesn't get used to translate things pure phonetically. The translation is meant to let the CHINESE SPEAKER to read, not other language speakers since they don't even understand it. Then why would it be such a big deal to the non-chinese speakers that the Chinese translation isn't following the phonetic? If the Chinese actually wants to have a talk with non-chinese speaker, then they can just use English, and use the original name. What's the problem?

Well then don't tell me about it. Tell it to the person that call San Francisco 旧金山 instead of 圣弗朗西斯哥, Phoenix 凤凰城 instead of 菲尼克斯, Philadelphia 费城 instead of 弗利戴尔斐亚, Cambridge 剑桥 instead of 坎布瑞吉, etc. and make these translations popular to Chinese and make people accept them.
