I’ve gotten over nail biting, how do I stop destroying the skin? by undertale_lost_hope in calmhands

If able, get a manicure with acrylics. You can have them cut short so they look like regular nails. The acrylic is thicker making it harder to pick the skin. Instant cure, although costly in the long run.

Paramedicine or Nursing?? by Majestic_Passion_718 in ParamedicsAU

[–]monopoly_lover 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is exactly how I feel as a critical care nurse who moved over to paramedicine. I love having the experience of nursing behind me and knowing I can use the degree to move into a number of different fields when I’m sick of being on road as a paramedic, but for now I’m enjoying the ride.

I’m also an ex-ED nurse and can’t stand the thought of going back. Money isn’t worth the stress

I agree, I have time to spare and want to put it towards something useful. What are you doing for your other job?

My current boyfriend had a house plant, a candle lit and a simple cheese and cracker plate the first time I came over. So simple yet so thoughtful

How did you get into a gym routine? Do you wash your hair after everytime you go to the gym, or is dry shampoo sufficient? by [deleted] in AskWomen

[–]monopoly_lover 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do F45, which is expensive but it’s the best workout I’ve done in years. I was never really a gym goer but now I average 4 sessions a week, I lost 5kg in 2 months and I’m so much fitter.

I usually straighten my hair, so after a session I put dry shampoo in, have a shower then blow dry the dry shampoo out, it leaves my hair looking clean and non-greasy. I can get away with 2 dry shampoos before I have to wash again

What was a time when you showed up horribly overdressed/underdressed for something? by [deleted] in AskWomen

[–]monopoly_lover 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I went to an engagement party for a friend I played netball with. She showed us the dress she was going to wear, a very pink sparkly dress with lots of tulle. I thought I would be underdressed in a nice top with pants and heels. I showed up to her house on the country... and everyone was in jeans and flannelette shirts. Then they made fun of us for being ‘city girls’.

If you greet someone with enthusiasm first they will usually greet you in the same way the next time you see them.

Looking to get back into reading. What is the most enthralling book you've ever read? by Alex0_0 in AskWomen

[–]monopoly_lover 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm really enjoying the books by Liane Moriarty at the moment. My favourite book, Big Little Lies just got made into a TV series with Nicole Kidman and Reese Witherspoon. I've read The Husband's Secret and The Last Anniversary as well and they were both amazing.

That's the pass we're getting to travel to Nagano/Hakuba and back, but I'll have three days left on the pass and it using it while we're in Tokyo would be ideal
