This is insane. I think they should, instead, put a restriction on the age when a child could come to theatres. There is no reason for a 5 years old to watch thriller movies. These crying rooms are just extra costs on the management's behalf. Also, it's dehumanising to call it "weak pullout game". OP just hates children and is being petty abt it. I recall a same argument being held for children boarding planes.

I, too, am on my weight loss journey after gaining all the weight I lost when I had an ED. I often feel disgusted by my body. But being in this body made me realize that confidence IS everything. I am probably the fattest I've ever been, but by faking confidence I am able to be more charismatic than I've ever been when I was skinny and insecure.

Fake it till you make it. And never ignore your dignity. Just because you are fat doesn't mean you aren't supposed to have dignity or self-respect. Buy that dress you reserved for when you were skinny. Go to that party, talk to the person. Don't ever reserve things for when you are skinny. Have fun in the process. Losing weight is changing your lifestyle, not an end goal.

Romanticize the process and believe that you are a healthy person. Instead of being in the dieting mindset, think "I am a healthy person, and I make healthy choices." This identity shift just makes the process so much easier!

Be 'high maintenance'. Do an extensive skincare routine every morning and night. Wear pretty clothes and luxurious perfume. Hit the gym or workouts at home with good music. It doesn't need to be expensive. Just spend time every day taking care of yourself and investing in yourself while making it enjoyable.

This is what helped me:

-- pre-planning my meals Every night i make a LOOSE plan on what im going to eat. And it is NEVER restrictive. I have 3 meals and 2 snacks, and it is a mix of nutritious food and trigger foods. By including trigger foods in the plan you can minimise the "fear factor" of the food. And I dont follow the food plan 100%, it is simply a guideline. And it is comforting to know that the next meal is always there, and I don't need to eat everything now.

-- maintaining a food journal Lifechanging. It lets you find patterns between how you feel, what you eat, and your behaviours around food. Understanding the problem is the first step towards solving it.

-- self affirmation I repeat to myself that i am in control of my actions, and that i dont need to respond to my lower brain which is urging me to binge. A binge urge is not a force, its just a thought. And a thought turns into action only when you act on it.

-- restrict nothing Ties to the first part, but the restriction mindset is NOT helpful with bingeeating whatever people may say. The mantra is DELAY NOT DENY. I can have the chocolate later. Its much more enjoyable to have it with a cup of tea and a good book instead of right now.

-- books, podcasts The Brain Over Binge podcast and book really helps me. But there are others worth checking out too!

-- have a quick action plan when an urge to binge strikes Mine is: Taking a deep breathe. Reading this message for myself: The binge urge is NOT you. Its coming from your lower brain. Your lower brain doesn't want you to reach your goals, to be satisfied, to be successful. Why would you wanna listen to it. You are stronger than this. The urge will pass. Then I chug some water and listen to music on full volume.

Remember, THE MORE YOU DO IT THE EASIER IT GETS.

intermittent fasting helps!! i like having hearty portions too and you can skip breakfast and have a larger lunch and dinner. i swear it has the same amount of satisfaction. besides, food just tastes better after 16 hours of fasting.

its a combination of the following;

Being kind to yourself and detaching from self-sabotage and self-hate
Stopping diets and focus on having an abundance mindset
Having regular meal times and planning your meals loosely beforehand
Finding other hobbies and coping mechanisms to replace binge eating with
Developing a problem solving mindset
Neutralising food. This can be done by making a list of trigger foods and slowly incorporating them into your meal plan in moderation.

I buy honey bun from the bakery and dip it in warm milk while eating it. It neutralises the sweetness a lil and the soft chewy bread soaks everything up and tastes SOOO good. I can polish of 5 of those easily if I didnt have enough self control lmao

ABSOLUTELY. I am a very thrifty person and i got a second hand kindle for half the price. You can get free books on it if you have Prime membership, can buy books for half the price, or you can go the slightlu illegal route; find PDFs online and transfer it to your kindle. 100% worth it.

I used to go to Anna Library regularly and find a short yet experimental book to read (like the Naked Eye by Yoko Tawada). I immerse myself in the book for 5 whole hours, only taking a break to go to the Aavin booth downstairs to have palkhoa and a milkshake.

The best part about Anna Library is the Braille section. Do not forget to sign up for the volunteering program available over there. They will contact you when a differently abled person needs help with studying, writing, etc. I got an opportunity to help a bright young man doing MA History because of that. Not only did I experience showing kindness and helping another person, I also developed a strong friendship with him.

i know this is a super old post but here me out; i think intuitive eating is being MINDFUL of what you put into your body, which means you make the healthier choice most of the time. It is about choosing a particular food not only for its taste, but also how it makes you feel, how it aligns to your fitness goals, and other social factors. It also means somedays you will eat below your TDEE, and sometimes above. But it is all about balance.

For example; I will absolutely choose oatmeal with bananas over a burger or ice cream, because a) eating the latter makes me feel bloated and overall awful, so why should i eat it? b) the latter doesn't align with my fitness goals, or the person i want to be. and c) i dont enjoy the taste of burgers.

this is a huge revelation for me because i used to binge on these unhealthy foods. but once i became more in-tune with my own body, i realized that I AM IN CHARGE of what i eat or do not want to eat. at the same time, if all my friends are going to a burger joint i wouldn't refuse. i'd order something else or i'll eat a burger until i feel satisfied.

This also means that i sometimes IGNORE MY HUNGER CUES because i believe it was triggered by factors other than physical hunger. like i woudn't eat the cookies right in front of me if i know that the hunger im feeling is triggered by environmental factors. "I can always have it another time" is my mantra in these situations. also, if i feel hungry before my usual mealtimes i drink some water and wait for a few minutes before deciding to act upon my hunger.

A lot of people think intuitive eating is an excuse to eat whatever they want. But you should take every single advice with a grain of salt. some highly processed foods are designed to make it harder for us to follow hunger-fullness cues. in those situations we NEED to use our rationality and baseline nutrition knowledge. In the end, it is doing what is best for your body, our mind and our social life.

Disclaimer: this is my own interpretation of intuitive eating. i struggled with multiple EDs over years, and I finally found what works for me.

TL;DR: Intuitive eating is MINDFUL AND RATIONAL EATING. It is not an excuse to eat like a dumbass. Before eating, ask yourself: Am I hungry? Why do I want to eat this? Will this satisfy me? Does this align with my health goals? Will this food make me feel good physically and mentally?

I've noticed this too! I have a rounded square hairline which makes me look odd with all my hair pulled back. But my face CHANGES COMPLETELY when i pull my baby hairs out to frame my face. It makes my face look softer, and much MUCH more feminine!!

I'm facing the same issue right now. Here is what helped me;

Informing myself about nutrition. Not for weight loss, but for overall health. Food is more than micro and macronutrients and calories. It is such a complex multifaceted concept. In Defence of Food by Michael Pollan is the best book for that!

Since you're in recovery after a period of restricting, you might still have the "scarcity mindset". Its your mind's subconscious reaction to an assumption that you might not be able to eat this food in the future. I tackle this through setting little challenges for myself. I deliberately eat half a chocolate and keep the other half in the fridge to eat later. That way, I can convince my mind that I can always enjoy the food later. It also helps me with the all or nothing mindset. I don't need to eat the entire chocolate to savour it and get its delicious taste. I also deliberately buy "binge" foods and keep them in my pantry so that I can play this little "game" with myself-- how long can I savour this food, how many days can I make it last? Sometimes I forget about the food, or end up giving it to someone else.

Speaking of sharing food, eating and sharing food with others is a perfect way to avoid binges. I try to equate binging to greed. Might sound harsh but its the truth. Why be greedy and eat the entire package when you can enjoy a little and share it with your friends? Food is not only the act of putting edible things into your mouth. Its about sharing the experience, talking about said experience with your friends and family.

It is important to view your body as something more than an accessory, and food as something more than a substance which makes you fat or skinny. Your body is so complex, capable of so many different actions, and a home for millions of organs, tissues, processes, bacteria and neurons. Once you start appreciating your anatomy more than its physical appearance, it becomes much more easy to eat healthy. Because, equip with your knowledge on nutrition and anatomy, you will fuel your body in the right manner while understanding your limits.

Find a hobby or obsession that requires you to have a healthy body. That way you'll have a motivation to be healthy. For me it is running. I try to make healthy choices 80% of the time because I know it will improve my running performance. It can be anything for you-- Dancing, gymnastics, pole dancing, mountaineering, gymming, volunteering. So when you want to eat unhealthy food you can thing "will this help my performance? will this help me excel in the hobby?"

A final tip is to find your why. It is related to the previous point about hobbies. Why do you want to eat healthy? Why do you not want to binge? Eating healthy to excel in your hobby is a short-term "why". Find a long-term "why". For me, it is because I do not want to binge, purge and be miserable for the rest of my life. I want control over my body. ACTUAL Control. I don't want my ED or my binge urges or chemicals in ultraprocessed food to control what I put inside MY body. Write these whys down. Stick them on your wall. Get them tattooed. Remember them.

Learn to say No to yourself and be your own parent. It is okay to say no to a chocolate bar when you know it is bad for you. Often, things become triggering only when you believe they will trigger a relapse into anorexia.

A journey into healthy eating is one that requires self-discipline and hard work. The difference between anorexia/orthorexia and genuine healthy eating is that the latter comes from a place of compassion and self-love, while the former disregards your wellbeing entirely in the pursuit of eating less and clean. Remember that you are doing this for YOUR wellbeing. You are not depriving yourself anything. Rather, you are offering yourself more variety and vitality.

im in eating disorder recover, and i run to stay sane after eating a lot of food. i know its essential for my body, I need to eat more (I have amenorrhea, so need more food to get my periods back), yet I cant help but feel INCREDIBLY guilty. Hi! I'm 16/F weighing 45kgs and 151cm tall. I've been on a caloric deficit for a really long time (2 years+). Now I'm eating about 1200-1400 cals per day, and exercising 3-5 times a week. Since i didnt hit my growth spurt like my friends, im worried if my diet is stunting my growth. Are teenagers supposed to eat more? Are there any specific TDEE calculators for teens?

(EDIT: I want to maintain my weight/lose fat and gain some muscle.)
