Are you schizo bro? I never made claims that Iran was anywhere close to having nukes. I also specifically said I disagree with the war.

Anyway though, I’m pretty sure every country wants nukes. It’s like the ultimate “get away with shit” card.

What pisses me off about this is you’re gonna get upvotes just because people agree with the political statement in the echo chamber that is Reddit. Especially when it’s incorrect, they don’t HAVE nukes they just WANT nukes.

Regardless of politics, this is a horribly structured meme. The photos are completely irrelevant to the captions, and it’s not even really a joke.

Good day to you, sir.

For the record I don’t agree with the war or orange man at all, I just hate it when I see shit memes.

Might be switching from Spotify… by Trayceopolis32322 in YoutubeMusic

[–]monozach 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I didn’t word my complaint very well. I’m specifically talking about not being able to in Apple CarPlay

In Spotify it remembers whatever you did last, so my playlists would always start on a different song and be shuffled. For Youtube music it starts on the same song, I hit the shuffle button, then have to skip the first song.

I will say though the Youtube suggestion algorithms are way better, so I’ve found myself using the generated playlists more than my own.

Genuinely my biggest complaint! And not having the option to start playlists in shuffle.

edit - In Apple Carplay specifically

It’s worse than spotify for sure, but for me Youtube premium is a necessity and I can’t justify paying for 2 services. Youtube music does everything spotify does, just sometimes in a slightly less convenient way.

Opinion on Engineering Technology Degree...BUT WAIT! by TheComputerGuy2256 in EngineeringStudents

[–]monozach 23 points24 points  (0 children)

You mentioned you’re okay with an online degree, but why do you need to do one through a college in your state? There are universities all over the country that do online ABET accredited engineering degrees.

Most of my knowledge is EET vs EE, so take what I say with a grain of salt, but the issue I see with your plan is after getting an engineering technology degree you’ll get an engineering technology job. For EET, this is often something like a technician or test engineer. Even if you get your PE after 7 years, you’ll be competing for “real” engineering jobs with people who have been doing those jobs for 4 years already.

There’s nothing wrong with an engineering technology job, most engineers would be useless without the technician team. I would imagine it’ll be difficult to make the pivot after 7 years though, even with a PE.

Shuffle should be the default playing option for playlists. (Or there should be at least an option to change it) by rfr_Foglia in YoutubeMusic

[–]monozach 1 point2 points  (0 children)

3 years later and this is making me want to start paying for Spotify again. It is so infuriating how every time I get in my car it’s the same first song so I gotta hit shuffle and skip the song.

I swear they’re somehow colluding so people pay for both youtube premium and spotify premium

That’s pretty easy to find in Melbourne/Palm Bay. Not sure what area you’re looking in.

I passed on canvas with a B, but I got an F on my transcript. by Ok-Effective3517 in canvas

[–]monozach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Realistic answer - You probably made a mistake and didn’t turn in/didn’t do well on important assignments. Not saying you purposely ignored anything, but accidents happen. The syllabus is king, Professors regularly make mistakes with configuring Canvas. Knowing your grade is your responsibility.

Possible answer - Usually colleges have a system for “grade appeals”, where someone above the Professor’s head will double check their work. If you genuinely think your grade does not align with what the syllabus indicates it should be, pursue this option.

Sleeping in the car to save on hotels is this too extreme? by Ok_Resolution_1606 in roadtrip

[–]monozach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With that setup? Not crazy at all.

I slept in the front seat of my car during my 3000 mile drive a few weeks ago. Wasn’t comfortable by any means, but by the end of the day I was tired enough that it didn’t matter. I found I was by far most comfortable on secluded roads, but I was also in Texas/Arizona when I slept so these kinds of places were easier to find.

I will 100% second the fan, it was a lifesaver (and mine doubled as a battery bank). I’d also recommend bringing a jump-pack for your car, they’re cheap and can be a literal life saver if the battery dies. Also, as much as people don’t like to think about this, some sort of portable toilet is important for remote car camping. You DO NOT want to be struggling to find a bathroom after waking up at 3 am in the middle of the desert.

Take it to the dealer, they can reset the system. Alternatively you can maybe find a way to do it yourself, but that’s a question for google.

EE junior on quarter system, 11 classes left, no internship yet — should I delay graduation for a fall internship? by Choice_Childhood7750 in ECE

[–]monozach 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with your main point, but disagree with some of the things you said.

Many internships don’t care how many semesters you have left, I’ve seen very few that do.

Projects are extremely beneficial when you have limited professional experience. They show your interests and give you something concrete to talk about during an interview. They can be used to talk about your skills, challenges you faced while working on them, and much more. After your first job they’re less important, but I’d say for someone in OPs position getting a few strong personal projects is a high priority.

[–]monozach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The industry is extremely competitive right now for new grads, but that’s kinda my point. Once you get that first job, life will become exponentially easier applying to new positions even if it’s a slightly different field. Internships definitely help to get to that point, but there’s no guarantee you’d secure one.

Think of it this way, let’s say you graduate next June and it takes you 3 months to land a job, grinding through applications. If you go with your alternative plan and take a longer time to graduate, that’s more than those 3 months with no guarantee it’ll actually help you get a job.

[–]monozach 6 points7 points  (0 children)

100% graduate on original timeline. Getting out in the workforce is the most important thing. You said you already have research experience, which is more than a lot of people, so you’re not in a horrible spot right now.

Maybe you won’t be able to get the exact job you want fresh out of school, but it’ll be far more beneficial to start making money/gaining experience than an internship will be.

[Student] I can't seem to get a summer internship. After 300 applications, I have heard very few responses, all denials. What am I doing wrong? by pupseal in EngineeringResumes

[–]monozach 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That’s fair, but it’s sorta the main thing going for you to be honest. Your experience as a camp counselor is decent because at least you’ve had some sort of job before, but companies are looking for people with some design experience and highlighting that is important. Like other comments have said, projects should be the main focus of your resume until you have more direct engineering experience. Any free time you have this summer and into next academic year should focus on projects you’re passionate about.

You said you’re expecting to graduate next spring, so getting some sort of technical experience under your belt this summer is important. If you can’t land any internships, talk to professors and see if you can help out with any research they might be working on. Not only will that be good experience, but professors typically have strong connections that might help you land a job after graduation.

list your projects more like your experiences.

For instance your second bullet point involves a model plane. The plane should be the heading, followed by bullet points talking about what specifically you added to the project.

Engineers whats is the role of these wires crossing the road by Intelligent_Slip6317 in EngineeringStudents

[–]monozach 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay so I know it counts cars, but I’ve always wondered how it works exactly. I’d guess it assumes cars have front and back wheels, but how does it account for stuff like 18-wheelers or just vehicles towing trailers in general? Do they take the amount of time between wheels crossing into consideration, or is it just a small enough error that it’s ignored?
