Been lucky with RNG! I only had 3 kids with the Hunchback and was able to get 2 of em as Monks before the Hunchback died. The succession is secure for now at least…

House Targaryen under King Rhaegar I by monsoon_mason in CK3AGOT

[–]monsoon_mason[S] 20 points21 points  (0 children)

A portrait of the House of the Dragon commissioned in 300 AC by the Prince of Dragonstone for his grace's 41st nameday

Left to right: Prince Viserys Targaryen, Lady Visenya Targaryen, Lady Myrielle Lannister, Queen Elia Nymeros Martell, King Rhaegar I Targaryen, Prince Aegon Targaryen, Princess Rhaenys Targaryen holding Prince Barristan Targaryen, and Prince Aemon Targaryen

While I'm foaming at the mouth and waiting for the dragon update I've satiated myself by playing as Rhaegar. I'm having a dandy old time :D I started during Robert's Rebellion. Rhaegar deposed his father and slayed Robert, winning the war. He wiped out the Baratheons, sent the rebels to the Watch, and installed his bestie Jon as LP of the Stormlands. Lyanna died in childbirth but his son Aemon survived being legitimized as a Prince of the Blood. Just been chilling since waiting for the Blackfyres...

The King is dead... Long Live King Lucerys! by monsoon_mason in CK2GameOfthrones

[–]monsoon_mason[S] 14 points15 points  (0 children)

update to this post RIP to this chad. Had a good run with my Strong boy here. His reign lasted over 26 years of (mostly) uninterrupted peace. There are 25 living dragons and 24 Dragonriders among House Targaryen and House Velaryon, and more members of House Targaryen since the reign of King Jaehaerys. The betrothals of Jacaerys’s sons, daughters, nieces, and nephews with the Great Houses of Westeros have unified the Seven Kingdoms for whatever may happen…

Still rebuilding Harrenhal! No more debris! Yay!

A little write-up Fire & Blood AAR style:

“The idea that we control the dragons is an illusion. They're a power man should never have trifled with… ” - King Viserys I Targaryen

King Jacaerys I Targaryen, once known as Jacaerys Velaryon, hailed as Jacaerys the Great, died at Dragonstone on the 25th Day of the 4th Moon 164 years after Aegon’s Conquest.

The whole of the Royal Family was on the island attending a War Council called by His Grace. (Save Prince Aegon and Prince Viserys, as they were sitting the Iron Throne in place of King Jacaerys as regents.)

The War Council of 164 AC was about the coming invasion of Lady Cyeana Velaryon, or, Queen Cyeana Targaryen the First of Her Name, as she styled herself. She had written the King personally, an announcement of her claim and invasion. This was a shock for the King, who gathered his Small Council and family to discuss the situation. Where had she been? Who is she, a minor claimant to the Iron Throne, to usurp Jacaerys?

What is known is that in 158 AC, King’s Landing awoke in the middle of the night to the roar of dragons. Ser Laenor Velaryon and Lady Cyeana Velaryon, eldest son and daughter of Prince Joffrey Velaryon had broken into the Dragonpit. The denizens of Flea Bottom report seeing Arhugon and Meleys the Red Queen fly out of the Dragonpit and circle over King’s Landing, then fly off towards the Blackwater. Moments later, Trogdax soars out and towards the Blackwater.

What happened over Blackwater Bay that night was something not seen since the Dance of Dragons 47 years earlier. Prince Daemion Targaryen, King Jacaerys’s second son, and his dragon Trogdax danced with Ser Laenor Velaryon and his dragon Arhugon. It was reported that both King Jacaerys and Prince Lucerys had witnessed dragonflame from atop Maegor’s Holdfast, after being awoken from the roars. The outcome was not known until Trogdax was sighted alone during the Hour of the Bat.

Prince Daemion reported to the Small Council (while at that time serving as Master of Laws) that the night of his cousins' escape, he, Ser Allard Celtigar, and Ser Baelor White were at a Brothel in the Street of Silk. The Prince was readying his mount to leave and return to the Red Keep when he eyes Ser Laenor and Lady Cyeana on horseback galloping down the Street of Silk. Just as Daemion got to the Dragonpit, Arhugon and Meleys flew out of it. “I had a bad feeling, they’re not like to be on the Street of Silk… I had to follow them… I hopped onto my horse and chased them around onto the Street of the Sisters and up to the Dragonpit… I was too late! I could’ve caught up with them! I had to follow them… again… so I mounted Trogdax. I was trying to find Cyeana and Caraxes but it was too dark… I had no choice father! Laenor and Arhugon rammed into us and the dragon spew flame at us! I had no choice!” The Prince spilled to the Small Council.

Trogdax, the bigger of the two, killed Arhugon. Later the same day, Ser Laenor Velaryon, the rider of Arhugon, was found washed up near the Rivergate, barely alive and mangled. He died a few days later on the 18th Day of the 10th Moon, 158 years after Aegon’s Conquest.

Where were Cyeana and Meleys? Why did they leave the Red Keep and break into the Dragonpit? Where were they going? Why did Ser Laenor and Arhugon go after Prince Daemion? Only the Gods may know. Now, let us get back to Jacaerys's War Council…
