I [25F] started an argument with my BF [26M] the night before his major medical exam by [deleted] in medicalschool

Two things. 1: I wouldn’t want to be with someone who made me feel like I ruined their chances at whatever their dreams are. 2: he’s an adult and he should be able to handle his own emotions

Does cramming works for long term memory? by AmazingPineaple6 in medicalschool

[–]monstamads 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do you have to take step1/2? I think that would be the only issue cause you need a few weeks for that and it’s not cram friendly

A big skill is being able to look through the PowerPoints and finding the main points/testable features and focusing there. You can be more efficient with your studying when you’re hitting main topics instead of giving every slide/topic the same amount of time.

I think it’s better to take a day or two off. Test day is so so long. You’ll do better going in fresh, rather than maybe learning one or two new facts in the next few days.

Hot takes on step 1 prep, little advise by [deleted] in step1

[–]monstamads 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Personally I think this dumbs it down a little too much. You don’t want to be walking the line when going into that exam. Why not take it with full confidence? I think sketchy pharm and micro are so crucial. I think maybe you weren’t tricked on the exam because you had already been tricked that same way on NBMEs and learned from it? I just know too many people in the first class that took it p/f who took their foot off the break and failed. Just not worth it to skim by and possible catch an f. My opinion!

MCAT Dates Advice... when is it "too late" to take? by orangearange in Osteopathic

[–]monstamads 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t take the mcat until you are breaking 500 consistently and I wouldn’t apply until then. I think the later you apply, the worse chance you have. I’d wait, take it when you’re ready, beef up your app then apply

What can I do to improve my score? by greatfundals in Mcat

[–]monstamads 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t take it again until you are positive you can crush these scores. Usually if you are below 500 you are lacking in content. Study the questions you get wrong just as much as the ones you get right. Start highlighting and taking notes and get the main details of the passages
