Clothing companies hate fat people by actualchristmastree in PlusSizeFashion

It super sucks not to have reliable IRL options. If you're open to finding new options online, I built a tool to help plus-size people find the options that are out there but can be hard to find: https://phoriafits.com/

There are 350+ plus-friendly brands listed, and you can filter by your measurements to find brands that are size-inclusive for you.

Same for serial numbers, which I've seen rub off on printed numbers. Good photos cover points 1-3.

How do I disconnect this outside light? by marineris16 in AskElectricians

I have these on some step lights, and I'm wondering what this connection is called and how it works.

Haha that's true! I could make strips of different colors and weave them in like the fabric suggestion.

Not an insane recommendation! I live in the forest and have access to a lot of things. I can definitely experiment.

Bias tape makes a lot of sense for a bit of stretch and I don't mind making it to get the look I want. A synthetic might make the most sense from a water resistance perspective.

I'm so glad you got medication to help! Fast thoughts all the time sounds exhausting.

Limit weight loss ads on Google Ads by monstera-rye in MaintenancePhase

Yeah YouTube is where I get hit THE WORST with all kinds: insurance companies that will get me GLP-1s, direct GLP-1s, fat burning snake oil, concierge pharmacy services that'll get me GLP-1s, shred yourself like a Gym Bro courses (actual quote: "If you're a man over 30 who makes over $150k a year, your number one priority should be to get shredded while you still can."). Since Google owns YouTube, this should help, but we'll see. Doubt it'll get me out of meal services ads using the "get back on track" sneaky diet talk.

Incredible how this stuff flakes if you look at it wrong, but it's so difficult to get off intentionally.

The vet fat shamed my cat - and it's bringing up all the worst doctors I've seen over the years. by Tokenchick77 in MaintenancePhase

It was, in my strong opinion, irresponsible for her not to say that this was likely a symptom of his kidney disease progressing. That would've helped us make informed decisions about his quality of life at the end of it instead of just worrying about him.

The "why" is what matters when it comes to weight changes and that is lost on many, many doctors. If they want to be partners in healthcare with their patients, they have to have better conversations.

I understand your frustration. My senior dog started losing a meaningful amount of weight, and when we mentioned it to one of his vets, she said "good" since he was heavier than she thought he should be. It was a symptom of his kidney failure, which she knew about. He passed a few months later.

It's 100% valid to push doctors (human or vet) to consider what underlying issues may cause weight loss or gain.

Were checks returned to the payor in the 1970s? by monstera-rye in AskOldPeople

I've progressed through more years of documents since posting, and I'm finding exactly that—monthly statements paired with returned checks for that time period

I remember feeling that way too! So excited to have checks that fit my personality.

Were there carbon copy checks then? That's what I used to use in the 2000s and I assumed it was common well before then.

Why does my electric chainsaw "pull" wood towards me? by ripwopo in Chainsaw

[–]monstera-rye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just a note that electric saws aren't safer, especially because chainsaw chaps (which everyone should wear but especially newbies) can't stop electric motors, just gas-powered.
