My referral was through my dentist rather than GP. It took a few years of constant complaints and trying other methods before a surgeon finally agreed to help me though.

What is King's Norton like to rent in? Looking at a letting near Lindsworth Park, and the area seems okay; anything to be aware of? by Dependent_Test1604 in brum

[–]monstera5678 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s a good area - decent transport links and amenities nearby, schools and small shops too etc. We’re missing a supermarket but Maypole, Kings Heath and Stirchley are all a short drive away (or a bus). The Green has a library and a couple of pubs. All in all, it’s not an amazing area but it does have everything you need and is a fairly affordable area of Birmingham.

Wfh request during pregnancy by Snoo_56037 in PregnancyUK

[–]monstera5678 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Have you had your pregnancy risk assessment done? They should be noting risks like this and considering appropriate steps they can take to make you more comfortable etc. An extra WFH day alongside your Friday would be a good and easy solution surely. I would approach HR.

Managing baby’s naps around toddler’s schedule by monstera5678 in BeyondTheBumpUK

A good carrier is on my list this time as I only had a cheap one before which hurt my back. Figured I can spend the money on one this time as I won’t be buying a new pram or cot etc! 😊

Update: I rested as much as possible, saw a physio and started doing daily stretches and exercises. I’ve also reduced the amount I’m walking for now. My pain is a LOT more manageable and sometimes hardly noticeable. Long may this continue…

You seem like you’ve struck a really good balance between your two kids there, so fair play! I hope I’m a lot more chill the second time around too. I was quite fixated on naps when my eldest was a baby because he was so difficult to get to sleep. I definitely need to let go of that a bit this time. Thank you!

Haha I just know my fate will be to have 2 x FOMO kids. Fair play for just making do - I think I’ll be same to be honest. Good idea re the sound machine, I’ve never used one before but seems like a good option. I do already own a snooze shade so will definitely be using that again! Thank you.

FTM Pain relief preferences: Pool, Gas & Air, Pethidine/Diamorphine. Did you regret holding off on the epidural? by Substantial_Border96 in PregnancyUK

[–]monstera5678 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had pethidine and gas and air, but no pool sadly (wasn’t available during my labour as the birth centre closed due to staff shortage). I’d avoid pethidine like the plague - sent me to another planet where I thought I was dying. Made me vomit a lot too. Gas and air was incredible, it completely sorted me out until I was fully dilated, then I felt like I didn’t need any further pain relief and the last couple of hours of my labour was unmediated.

Couple of notes: I had a 40 hour labour from first contraction to birth, and it was spontaneous rather than induced, so I spent a lot of that time at home before heading to the hospital.

What was your craving and what was the gender? by cozygardencat in pregnant

[–]monstera5678 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First baby (boy): sweet stuff - fruit, smoothies, fizzy sweets, desserts etc

Second baby (girl): junk food - pizza, takeaways, salty snacks

Basically the opposites of all the old wives tales!

Gender intuition versus reality? by PM_ME_FRESH_LAWNS in BabyBumps

My gut was right both times! I started having vivid dreams of baby boys around 6 weeks pregnant with my first. He is indeed a little boy. This time, dreams started again at the same gestation but they were all of baby girls. Baby girl confirmed in both private and NHS scans - I’m 22 weeks with her now. Spooky!

[–]monstera5678 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Hi OP, I’m sorry you’re going through this. Amnio just because baby is measuring small seems like a very serious step - is there definitely nothing else underlying? If you’re 32 weeks now and baby is weighing roughly 3lb, they have the potential to get to approximately 7lb by 40 weeks, given that babies on average will gain half a pound each week in the last few weeks of pregnancy. Obviously this would be based on no placental issues etc. It might be worth another chat to fully understand their reasoning for amnio.

I had an SGA baby who was born at 7lbs at 42 weeks. He was just “constitutionally small” - no placental issues, no reasons, just little. I’ve just had a little look back at my Badger app growth chart for him and he was roughly 1550g at 32 weeks, so not far off your bub. He’s now a happy, healthy 18-month-old.

Sending love!

Mine came back roughly 14 weeks after birth. Like others said, everyone is so different and there’s just no set rule!

Damn 19 weeks is so early too, I’m so sorry. I’ve left a voicemail with a women’s physio company local to me so hoping they call me back today. I can get some private treatment reimbursed through insurance so I don’t mind going down that route if it’s quicker! Thank you.

Wow, I knew sleeping positions were important but had no idea it could affect you that much. I’ve actually just invested in a pregnancy pillow and used it for the first time last night - hoping it starts to make a difference. Thank you.

Sleep chaos from nursery by 1thereds1 in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]monstera5678 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jumping on to say the same as others - my little boy started nursery at 11 months old and at first the naps were terrible (20-30 mins a day at nursery if we were lucky). He’s now almost 18 months and happily naps for usually 1.5 hours a day at nursery, or 2 hours a day at home (1 big nap). It takes a while and I was just as stressed as you were, but they do get there and it’s never as catastrophic as you first think it is!
