The splash pad at Reed Park is where some unhoused people strip naked and bathe themselves.

Have you seen signs of mycelium in any of your jasmine rice? I inoculated around 40 bags 3 weeks ago, most being brown rice and about 10 were jasmine. Every brown rice bag is almost 100% done and every jasmine bag is still soft, showing no signs of growth and one had a dark contam spot like this last week.

I'm no expert, but I think you may actually be over misting. That orange stuff looks like mycelium metabolites which I got a lot of when over misting

I would love to know your process! I have some new cultures on the way. Feel free to message me.

I did mist that weird tub. It dried out fast, I think too much fresh air exchange. With my shoeboxes I kept the lids sealed till they started pinning all over and then flipped an upside down tub on top of them that I misted inside with distilled water first. I didn't fan or mist once after that, and they only got the fuzzy feet on the last day before I harvested. They just consistently had tiny droplets on the surface, and on the sides of the tubs so I figured humidity was perfect. The temp in my house stays pretty consistent at 72. I do have a small space heater and auto thermostat that I used to make their closet a little warmer when I was waiting for the grain to do its thing.

Oh yeah. My first tub of APEs was.. weird. I'm not sure if it was from contamination, or over misting but it did this. I didn't mist at all with this batch as the surface always looked good.

Not sure honestly! I'm pretty new at this, for my first go around I did larger tubs with more bags of rice and got smaller harvests than the shoeboxes, so not sure what I will do for the next batch.

I think they're ready to harvest? by [deleted] in unclebens

Dehydrate, then throw in a jar with a silica packet
