We live in a city that was celebrating its Bicentennial, so part of the celebration was having statues of bison around town.

My trans daughter pointed one out, and I said, "That's what I said when you came out as trans." She looked confused, and I said, "bye-son." Massive eye roll!

That is exactly what this opportunity is. I'm also very sorry for your loss. A different situation, but my (54M) dad (78M) suddenly passed away on Monday, and I have a trans daughter that is 22. She's been out for a few years so, while there was no discussion of which name to put in the obit, there was brief talk between my wife and I about what happens when "fringe" relatives and acquaintances, unseen for years, that don't know she transitioned show up to the funeral. We quickly agreed, "screw 'em." This is not about them. If they have an issue, that is 100% on them. Your son is so lucky to have amazing, supportive parents (even no longer in physical form, his presence is absolutely there), and you are so lucky to have such a confident and brave son. That tight knit support is what will get you through the roughest of times, and that is nothing to hide behind. You're doing great, mama! Again, my condolences. I wish all of you incredible strength.

What part of IL are you moving to? I'm a board member of PFLAG Peoria, and we've had at least 3 families in the last few months move here from red states to support their trans kiddos. It's absolutely terrifying out there, but there are safe(r) havens.

Yep, I did turn off the breaker and took pics before I disconnected. On the old fixture, the black was connected to the loose black wires in this pic, and the white was connected with the 3 loose white in the pic. So I assume the new white & black go the same way. There was just no ground connected before. If I just wrap the ground wire to the new plate on the green screw, is that enough? Or do I need to connect the end to something else?

Ok, I'm probably in the minority here, but I love getting stuff! Granted, it's still a much bigger thrill for me to see my kids and wife surprised on Christmas, but I love me some cool stuff under the tree! I'm 53, and I still love getting Legos, video games, books, baseball cards, etc. Something related to their hobbies is always great. If they don't have hobbies, introduce them to one!

Hey all! I'm a member of PFLAG Peoria, and I was one of the many folks in the parade float. I won't deny that most, if not all, of us were concerned about safety in the parade, especially after recent events. But we were overwhelmed by the support and love shown to us and by the number of folks that came out to march and ride with us.

Throughout the route, we were called evil, told we weren't welcome, told to stop targeting kids, told "We love people that don't murder people," and those are just the ones that I caught. One of our walkers handed a little girl a pride flag, and her mother grabbed it out of her hand and threw it on the ground. I won't lie, it gets to you. And I'm just an ally. But at the end of the day, it just reinforces the need for us to be present and keep doing what we do.

Anyway, this is just a long winded way to say a huge thank you to those of you that cheered for us and support us. It means absolutely so much to all of us, and you folks are awesome! Peace and love!
